What is the biggest gift you have received?

I have 2 both from my husband:

1. BMW convertible.

2. 300 DVC pts at BWV.

I don't know how much each cost so I listed both.

I have a couple. After DS was born my parents gave us a $400 check to help with bills. I had an unplanned c-section and DH did not leave my side in the hospital. So he missed a lot of work and had no vacation. Also the next year my parents treated us to 3 days at Disneyland for my 29th birthday. Seeing Disneyland through the eyes of my 5 month old was absolutely amazing. And not fighting with my mom the entire time we were there...PRICELESS!!!!! :thumbsup2

Our DS was born very premature. It was just before Christmas and we were not allowed to hold him for fear he would have more brain bleeds.

So the nurses took precious time to make a hand print and put it on a snowflake from DS to us for Christmas.

The next year having DS at home for Christmas - Priceless.

Wow, it's just awesome that someone outside of your immediate family would give you such a large gift!
I would do the same thing I would do with a smaller gift ie., give them a personal thank you card but I would also take the time to speak to them about the gift and how much you appreciate it and how helpful it will be with the new baby.

I have 2.

DH bought me DVC for my 30th bday.

My grandmother had Alzheimers and before she was too far gone she had me come over to her house because she had a special gift for me. She said she wanted to give it to me so she could see my happy face before she forgot me. She gave me her engagement ring that my grandfather had given her over 55 years before! It is a stunning 3 carat diamond ring. It is so special to me. What is weird is that it fit me perfectly! Also, if I was to design my perfect ring, it would look like this! I was so honored that she wanted me to have it. Everytime I wear her ring it puts a smile on my face because I think of her and all the wonderful memories I have with her. She was such a wonderful grandmother.

OP, I would just write a nice letter expressing your gratitude.

Beaver Run Raceway, Pittsburghmarc?

I'd rather have access to the track in my own car. I think 135 in my Jetta that I know well would be better than 140 in a car I have no experience in even if it was a highly tuned true race car.

Then again, I have done 135 in my Jetta. If you've never done that kind of speed, it is thrilling in any car.

Maybe not the biggest or most expensive (well, maybe the most expensive), but the best gift would be my (cheap) electric guitar that I longed for over many many years that my wife got me. Not rich enough or in rich enough circles to be given expensive gifts.

Yep. Beaver Run. Can't wait to do it again. Other than that, Rt. 43 is a great stretch of road also. Suzuki GSXR 750.

Wow, so many great stories and gifts. I guess for me it would be my new car for Christmas one year when I was 16 years old. That was pretty amazing. Last year though, my mother surprised all of us at dinner one night when she gave me and my sister each a check for 10,000, and each of our children a check for 1,000. I'll never forget it. She took the money from the sale of my Papaws house to help us out. I still can't believe it.

My parents gave us a car right before DS was born. It wasn't new, but it served us well for quite a while.
