What is the biggest expense of your trip?

When traveling to WDW ....... airfare! Food comes in 2nd when staying for 2 weeks !!!

Our last trip is was park tickets at $285/pp (4 day park hoppers).
Hotel was $252 (4 nights at Standford Inn).
Food >$150/pp (5 days, including travel home)
Car Rental & Gas - ~$260
Boarding Dog - ~$120

Park tickets are our biggest expense. We own DVC, thankfully, or it would be hotel for sure.

Food next.

Souvenirs third. We still buy a ton of stuff even after many trips. :blush: There are just too many great things to choose from. :lovestruc

Fourth would be travel. We drive from Utah so fuel and wear and tear on the vehicle.

Kennel for dogs would be last.

Well, from the list it would be hotel. I almost always stay at GCH or DLH.

But not to be discounted would be the cost of leaving dh at home when I go. See, he's not a big Disney fan but figures he's owed something else in return.

Generally it would be the hotel, but we are buying APs this time, so it's kind of a toss up.

Although the APs are going to be for more than one trip, so I guess technically, it's the hotels.

Before I found the DisBoard, I'd book a package (staying at GCH) through Disney. The cost really limited how often I could pack up the grandkids and take off to SoCal.

When I was booking packages, I only had two grandkids to tag along now I have four.

Making my own reservations for airfare, hotel and other needs keeps the cost down. Staying off-site and knowing how to look for reduced rates on airfare and such, allows me to invite all four grandkid to tag along.

Order of cost from Most Expensive to Least Expensive...
Park hoppers (4 or 5 days)
Air Fare (PDX to SNA or LGB)
Hotel
Food
Spending money

Sure wish we were within one day driving distance. I'd have an AP for sure!!!

A trip to Disney is a chunk of change, as we all know, regardless of where you stay.

But the Disney Memories I have with my grandkids is worth every penny!

Park tickets. I am trying to price out 2 trips next year. Heaven help my bank account!!!!! :scared:

Are you trying to tell us two trips might break your back??? or bank?

Here's a little pixiedust: to help you with your two trips next year.
I surely don't want you to have a sore back or bank at Disneyland.

Flights, but park tickets won't be too far behind soon. I'm definitely a bit jealous of those within a days drive.

Family of 4 doing a 6 night DL trip in a couple weeks. Hotel is the most expensive (RI Maingate), followed closely by flights from SEA, and 5 day hoppers. Hopefully food will end up last on this list, but we shall see.

:lmao: I meant bank account. I will change that. But trying to drive 12 hours with 3 boys under 6 my back and brain will be sore. :p

it's usually the room for us because we stay on property but we got such a great deal at the Ramada for our September trip that we can't pass it up. This time it will be food and souvenirs. Airfare should be pretty good too.

Commonly, we go for 3 day trips with a family of 3. Our output in that case is as follows:

#1--Flights (usually about $600-700)
#2--Food ($450 or so, depending on our desired "opulence")
#3--Hotel (usually $400ish for DI&S)
#4--Tickets ($400 for 3 Salute tickets)
#5--Souvenirs and other assorted incidentals (amount varies)

Hotels. We fly from Australia and stay in the US for 4-6 weeks, with probably 14-18 days in Anaheim on average.

Airfares for 4 people from Australia (we're going to San Francisco first this time which made it slightly more expensive than direct to LAX).

Park tickets aren't too bad - we can get 10 day hopper passes (to be used within a 14 day period). This time it cost AUD1436 (approx UD1350) for 4 adult tickets.

Food.

Souvenirs.

For us it would be the flight coming from VA, except we are using frequent flyer miles, so that's not much. We are military, so park tickets are a great price this time. It will probably be hotel, even though not onsite so a pretty good price for us. Food will probably be a large chunk since it's four and 1/2 days for the trip and we will be eating out most of it, but still probably won't beat the hotel cost. We don't usually spend much on souvenirs and stuff like that.

The annual passes, then the hotel. Although our next trip we got a pretty cheap hotel rate, we'll probably spend more on food.

My perspective is a little skewed since I'm coming from Australia and DLR is just part of a 4 week trip to the US.

* Most expensive is definitely, without a doubt, flights
* Hotels for 4 weeks - I'd say an average of about a 3 star rating
* Park tickets - 1 x 10 day hopper and 1 x deluxe AP
* RunDisney registration
* Other organised activities/tours on our trip
* Car rental

At just over $1500 for 3 of us, it's the flight (sigh). Flying from Victoria is not cheap.
