What is the biggest boo-boo you commit at Disney???

In an attempt to help others learn from our mistakes, i'm starting a thread for us to share our slip-ups we have made while visiting Disney. To start the ball rolling, i'll lead off...

The last TWO visits to WDW, i've left my gold chain in my resort room on check-out day and have had to jump through hoops with the hotel staffs at AKV and SSR to get it back. Successful on both occassions

I once left my wallet on top of a trashcan in MK, which was subsequently stolen. It was eventually left at the lobby desk of All-Star Sports, with the money gone. Fortunately, they didn't touch any of my credit cards, etc. in it. It could have been a LOT worse.

It is the primary reason I never carry my wallet in the parks any longer. Some cash, a KTTW card, and ID in case I'm in EPCOT getting a drink, is all I carry.

Here's a thread I started a few years ago, that seemed to take off.

Let's Learn from everyone's mistakes...

not me but my best friend (but it affected me)

We were on our first day at Caribbean Beach and walked from our hotel room (Trinidad South) to the food court.

Prior to the trip my best friend bought the cutest sandals and thoght it would be a good idea to wear them./ You know what'[s coming right? Well she got such blisters from that walk alone we sepnd the entire first day in Downtown Disney looking for good sneakers.

She's learned her lesson now though (this was in 1994) and now wears broken in sneakers ONLY for the trip. She is very picky about what she gets LOL

A couple from me:

Try out your umbrella stroller on your child if she hasn't used it in a while. When we took our almost 4yo dd a few years ago we brought the umbrella stroller. Didn't realized that she'd almost grown out of it.. her head was above the top so she couldn't get comfortable to take a nap..

Also make sure the kid's shoes fit as well.. my dd's crocs were too loose and she got a blister on our first day at DisneyLand. Luckily the shop outside Small World had a band-aid for her.

Please pay attention to Cast Member's instructions and don't cross ropes or fences. These are generally done or for your safety!

My husband wore his glasses on the water slide at BB. This was our first day at WDW. Yes, they fell off at the bottom of the slide, sank to the bottom of the pool and were scratched beyond recognition. Our second day was spent at Wal Mart getting contacts...

I had fairly new sandals. They were Easy Spirit, so they were very comfortable. Unfortunately, they were mostly assembled with glue, rather than stitching. One day at Epcot it was pouring. I am talking "Niagara Falls." I was walking in water covering my feet in many places. In a short while, going from place to place in Future World, the sandals just completely came apart. I had to toss them, and get emergency flip flops at Mouse Gears, til I could get back to the hotel and into my sneakers.

Another time, I came up for a long weekend and was going to use my debit card for everything. How convenient! One card, pays for gas, hotel, food, tickets, souvenirs, -- everything! I get to MK and just past the tunnel, I use the ATM machine to get some cash. My one and only card doesn't work!!! So I'm thinking, how to pay for hotel stay, food, gas for drive home, souvies? Luckily, my Miami bank had a branch in Kissimmee, and it was still operating hours. I drove all the way there from MK, got a Visa cash advance enough for the weekend, and continued on with WDW. After that, I now have a back-up CC with lots of credit, in case the primary card fails me in the future.

Don't ever, ever think you're children don't need a stroller....
Don't ever, ever leave your sneakers home because your sandals are fine...
Don't ever, ever walk down the spiral stairway in the fort at Tom Sawyers Island carrying your baby after if had rained the night before.........

I ran the 2011 marathon in "newer" running shoes. I thought I had broken them in well enough.


I spent the night in the Celebration emergency room, and the next 4 park days in a wheelchair.

No matter how many times it has been said before... Don't neglect the water just because its vacation... soda and "beverages" in epcot do not keep you as hydrated as you should be LOL (yep. personal experience)

Don't do early EMH and try to stay up for late EMH. It = coma sleep

Don't leave your bag in your car in the Florida sun just because its not check-in time... Melted deoderant does no good.

Switch shoes every other day! This past trip I had horrible tennis shoes and my feet hurt nonstop when I was standing with them on after the first day..

I made the mistake of making late ADR's (9:00pm), staying in the park all day, and then falling asleep at that late dinner. Even if you eat late at home, don't make ADR's too late at WDW.

Almost forget this great little tidbit: bring your ponchos along every day, even if DW makes fun of them and complains about them. That first time you need them and don't have 'em is killer! Boy can it rain down there!

Choose your shirt and bra carefully on water rides.

Yes!!! We have been 4 times, and have only been rained on twice. But both times, torrential downpours. And both times, the ponchos were in the hotel room in the backpack, because DH made fun of me for carrying everything but the kitchen sink!

Don't assume that just because it is sunny and pleasant when you enter a ride/attraction/restaurant, etc that it will not begin pouring rain while you are indoors. I saw a lot of people completely shocked to bring their kids out of an attraction to completely soaked strollers last year. It may seem like a pain, but using a stroller cover or throwing a poncho/trashbag/shower curtain with a couple of clips on your stroller only takes an extra minute or two and could really make the day a lot more fun if it rains (assuming you DON'T want to carry your 30 pound toddler around in your arms most of the day ).

The biggest boo-boo I ever made at Disney? Choosing to go in August. I have never been so hot and so miserable in the most magical place on earth.

Going to the park at rope drop..and expecting to go full into the 1 am emh.

what was I thinking? My boyfriend slept on my shoulder during the main street electric parade and then we were done! haha

Also another mistake we made was thinking we could do it all on one trip. Don't think that it's possible.
