Stay at the poly?!?!? DF and I are taking a mini honeymoon WDW and we want to stay at the POLY!! How is the best way to go about it now? Is the payment option available on the resorts only? Please help!!!

For resort only stays, you only need to put down a 1 night's deposit, and the rest is due upon check in. Cancellations and changes are also way easier with a room only reservation. And you may call at any time and apply any amount you would like to your stay.

Booking - 1 night's deposit due (say 100$).
You have until 6 days prior to your check in the cancel your reservation with no penalty.
Within your 6 days of check in, you may change your reservation, shorten it or add to it with no penalty. If you cancel you will only loose your 1 night deposit of a $100.

Many times, I would book Fri/Sat/Sun nights. If we got off work early Friday and could hit the road (4hr drive), then we'd check in Friday night. If we weren't able to hit the road, I'd call and cancel Friday night, but I wouldn't loose my 1 night deposit because we were still staying 2 nights.

There's usually plenty of options for discounts for room only. You'll just have to ask when calling or check the internet for any promos. We were FL residents/Passholders/AAA member. So I'd ask about all 3 discounts and they would apply the best one. Sometimes one would be available and not another.

Thanks for the help...we are Florida residents and AAA members so I can give it a shot...thanks again

Anyone else?

There is a current 40% off code for the deluxe resorts that expires 2/16/11. It looks like you will just miss that date based on your ticker, so you will need to wait for the next round of discounts. 40% is about as good as it gets, although Disney has offered a 4-for-7 deal that is 43% off the room rate.

Keep an eye on the codes and rates board to see what bounceback offers are in the rooms. Since you are FL residents, it might be worth a one-night stay at a value just to score a 40% off deal for 2011. The bounceback needs to be booked while you are checked in, so you'd have to go to WDW to get it (and sometimes the flyer is not in all the rooms, so watch the boards for someone to post a scan with the offer code).

If you look at the rack rates for Poly, they jump up on February 17 and stay high until February 27. They then jump again for spring break and stay high until after Easter.

Have your family members spread the word that you would like Disney gift cards for your wedding gift (if anyone asks), or ask for Disney gift cards for Christmas, birthdays, etc. Have part of your paychecks direct deposited into a vacation account. Don't spend your change - put it in a vacation bucket and turn it in before the trip. Everytime you don't go out for dinner or drinks, put the money in the honeymoon fund. Take the amount that your grocery receipt says you saved using coupons and put it in the vacation fund. Deposit all rebate checks into the vacation fund.

As far as saving money in general, start reading the budget board for tips to cut expenses or raise cash - you'll probably get some good ideas!

You can also book a room now for your dates, and then as the promotions come up you can add it to your reservation. As well, you'll get your email into the system, and you'll get emailed when something comes available. I'm always getting emails for florida residents.

You might also want to think about seasonal pass, weekday pass, or play 3 passes that they offer for fl residents. It's cheaper than MYW. You'll find the link in Cheshire Figment's signature.
