We'd like to stay in one room, and we are planning a trip for early December.

For the first time, we don't HAVE to stay at the All Stars, so we're excited to try something new!

I'd welcome any input!

Abuwalker -
We are a family of five, also...and, before the oldest two went off to college we always stayed in the Fort Wilderness cabins. We loved them! They have a separate bedroom with a double bed and bunkbeds....and, a double bed that pulls out of the wall in the living room!! There is a full kitchen with dishwasher, etc. The way it's all set up gives you privacy and space for all of you. You even get daily maid service!!
Having a kitchen saves a fortune on meals! We would eat breakfast while everyone was taking turns in the bathroom....sometimes we would come back from the parks for lunch.....sometimes for dinner. It was wonderful to have the option of not having to eat all our meals out (it could get expensive  ) and, also, not having to eat while sitting in one room on the beds.
There is so much to do at Fort Wilderness that I just can't begin to tell you!!
Have a fun time!!!

FORT WILDERNESS FAQ

Stayed there in 1999. Learn the bus schedule, that is important. buses for internal and external travel. Also, I would recommend renting a golf cart to get around.

I believe that the Aligator Bayou rooms at Port Orleans Riverside have trundle beds so they can accomodate 5 people. Have fun choosing!

Abuwalker,
In past trips we have liked Dixie for our family of 5. Not sure if I would be happy with POR now that some things are closed. The trundles aren't huge but totally fine for a child 10 or under. I think we will ry either the Swan or Dolphin w/teacher discount next time. Just a couple of ideas.

For our family of 5 it's a standard view room at the Contemporary. We are paying around 170 including tax this coming June. Not too bad for being on the monorail, which our family loves. The rooms are pretty large with 2 queen beds and a daybed. We have also stayed in a Fort Wilderness Cabin and those are nice too (lots of room, more privacy, nice kitchen), but the transportation is greatly inferior and I thought the bathroom was more cramped which for us was an issue.

hi: most of the deluxes will accomodate 5 people as well as the 2br units at okw, bwv, vwl, and the new bcv. there is also a junior suite at the wl that will be able to suit your group. with a group of 5 or more, we've stayed at the wl, contemporary, polynesian, bwv, and the villas at what is now the disney institute(they are in the process of changing this and i'm not sure if it will be available for your trip). figure out where you will be spending the most time (mk, epcot, etc.) and pick out a resort accordingly. the wl and vwl will be superbly decorated for a december trip though. have fun!

We brought our two nieces and our son. We stayed in the Polynesian - two queen beds and a twin sized day bed. Very comfortable. Get the Tahiti Bldg - lagoon view - to have a great view of MK and the fire works. Also the Water parade. This bldg is also close to the Ticket and Transportation Center.

We stayed at the Poly last October and it was wonderful. We were in Tokelau 1st floor garden view. Very relaxing and close to everything. LOTS of room in the room itself. My kids were 10, 7 and 4 and had lots of space to run around in the room. They fought over who got to sleep in the day bed.

You are really choosing between very good and Oh-my-gosh good. Have fun!!
