What is the BEST Good Neighbor Hotel for the buck???

HoJo does offer microwaves in the office rooms and suites.

We have been put off staying at HoJos mainly because of the lack of a microwave, how hard is it to get one of these rooms, are they anymore expensive, are there any trade offs ie the room is smaller or on the noisey side of the hotel?

I thought I also read that you could rent a microwave for fee there? Could be wrong, but I thought I read that when looking in to rooms in June.

I vote for the Candy Cane Inn.
We just stayed there and it was so lovely. The grounds, service and rooms were all as good as it gets offsite if you ask me. And you can use the micro in the breakfast kitchen anytime, I saw people in there. It's no problem. We paid $99 per night. To me the free parking, breakfast and internet was worth at least $25, so the math worked for us. Good luck deciding and have a great trip.:cutie:

Candy Cane does it for us! My DH LOVES LOVES LOVES the beds there, says they are really comfortable for a hotel bed. I looked at other options for this upcoming trip and he just looked at me like I had lost my mind.

You can upgrade to the deluxe room which has VCR and microwave. All rooms have refrigerators, I do believe. We even have our own "special" room location that we always request. So much so, that now when I call, THEY ask me if we want that room! Now that's customer service! :thumbsup2

I like it because IT IS CLEAN. It's close. We once stayed at the Holiday Inn at the Park (when we drove) and had to change rooms 3 times to find one that didn't have something wrong with it. Ditto with Stovall's and some of the others.

I'll take CCI anytime! And the fellow at the desk is super nice! Oh, yes. The private shuttles, I've heard, are very convenient. We like to walk and it's less than 10 minutes and a pleasant jaunt. Subway is also right across the street.

Do any of these GN hotels/motels have INDOOR pools? We are going in Feb. and it will most likely be too cool to swim outside right?

The only one that I know of that has an indoor pool is the Desert Inn & Suites. I'll be staying there with my family in about three weeks. I don't know how big the pool is but the hotel is located on Harbor Blvd. directly across from Disneyland and not far at all from the crosswalk. It has been renovated within the past year or two so be aware of this when reading any older reviews.

Why do i not see the Desert inn/suites on the GN chart at disneyland.com ?? I must be missing it...... off to google.

Another vote for the Tropicana Inn....great location.... Nice rooms and great pool area...

Another vote for the Tropicana. We loved the pool area, the free breakfast was nice and the room had been recently refurbished. It had a frig and microwave. The staff was great, of the four offsite motels we have stayed in (Camelot, Hojo, BWPPI) the Tropicana has been our favorite.

I would very much like to try the Candy Cane.

And while I prefer the Tropicana due to the proxmity to the parks, the Hojo is a great property. It has a great pool area and lovely grounds, the only place on Harbor that has grounds. I just dig the free breakfast and location of the Tropicana too much to pass it up anymore (except to try the CCI at some point).

Caitsmama: We stayed at the Tropicana in February and swam several times. The weather was warm but the pool was really warm! And the hottub is huge. We have swam during the winter months during our trips to DL over the years. Getting out of the pool can be chilly, but to us being from Colorado, swimming in the dead of winter is too fun to pass up!

Thanks erveryone for your help. So we have narrowed it down to HoJo, CCI and Tropicana. Which one is closer to the park??

Of those 3 the Tropicana is the closest. Right across from the cross walk, probably took us 3-5 minutes to get back and forth.

Tropicana is directly across the street from the crosswalk :) Right next door to BWPPI, I believe??

I think we're going to give it a try next time....sounds lovely!

We're staying at the Tropicana October 15-19. It's our first time there, but I think it's going to be great. Last time we stayed at Embassy Suites, and it was nice, but we had to take the shuttle and were only in our room to sleep. As we waited for the shuttle each night, I would stare across the street at those motels and wish we were staying there!

For us, proximity is everything! (Plus I've read lots of reviews and it appears to be clean....also a must.) And the pool looks okay...if we even end up with time to swim!

has anyone stayed at the camelot inn??? it looks nice and says that it is right across from the tropicana.

Jen, the closest of the 3 on your list is the Tropicana. BWPPI is right next to the Tropicana closest to the crosswalk. The Camelot in on the opposite side of the Tropicana, it's farther from the crosswalk.

We stayed at BWPPI for 1 night last weekend, it was nice but we didn't get to experience it really. We will be back at the Tropicana on the 25th.
