Mine was when my son was 8 and he bought me a big "diamond" ring, just because he loved me. :cloud9: That kid walked on water for a month after :rotfl:

I still have it, and someday I hope to get it duplicated into real daimonds and pass on to his daughter, should he have one.

For Christmas a couple of years ago, each of my parents wrote their "memoirs" and gave them to us. Those books are so special! They just typed them on their home computer, scanned in a few pictures and had them spiral bound at Kinkos.

I would encourage everyone who is "of an age" to do that for their loved ones. My parents did theirs in very short chapters...they talked about the relatives, what school was like, etc. Even if you don't think you've lived an exciting life, a view of the past is so interesting. (Even if you don't think you're very old, your grandchildren simply won't believe that you couldn't just pop in a movie whenever you wanted to watch one!)

My youngest daughter, Logan, who turned 4 yesterday. We did not realize we were looking for her until she found us. The adoption became final last July!

It is just a gold rope necklace DH bought for me Christmas 1996. I remember the exact year because he let the kids wrap it and handed it to DD who was one. She toddled over and handed it to me. I will never forget that moment. I do not take it off.

It looks a little silly when I wear sterling silver earrings, but I just slip it underneath what I am wearing.

It would have to be my very grumpy but very loving dog, Bill. Joe brought him home for Christmas quite a few years ago. We spent the first few weeks glaring at each other from opposite corners of the room. Now, the two of us are inseparable and I can't imagine not having the little ball of bitterness in my life. He's the best!

I'm going with the year DFI took me to Disney for my birthday/Christmas and proposed by the castle. Doesn't get much better than that. :)

Rick -- I am sure Bill loves you to the stars and back again. Not many furbabies' daddies love them enough to take a romp around the neighborhood in their undies for the sake of the doggie's comfort! :rotfl: :rotfl2:

The best gift I ever received came from my children's babysitter. I worked full time when they were very young. She documented their days in pictures and gave me an album that showed what they did during the day. The photos were of just everyday type things - eating lunch, playing outside, playing with dolls, quiet time, etc. She surprised me with this and it brought me to tears. I tear up right now just thinking about this. She made several of these albums for me and they are real treasures. I don't think that I would have thought to take the time to do this even if I had been home with them.

Wow! What a great idea! If any nannies are reading this thread, do this and you'll be loved forever!

When I was a kid, I opened up a mysterious large package that turned out to be a horse saddle with a picture of my new horse in it. I had always wanted to have my own horse and to say I was floored was an understatement.

My husband gave my a Siamese kitten for my graduation from medical school. He was totally precious. He slept by my head for over 17 1/2 years until he had a stroke and died in September this year. As a matter of fact, the day he had his stroke, I missed him on my pillow, and found him paralyzed in the utility room next to the litter box. I know I can never replace such a wonderful pet.
