What is the best/easiest way to do this?

I currently have a THV booked for 6 nights in October but would like to switch, if possible, to a 2-bed villa at either BWV or BCV at the 7-month point.

I know I can cancel the reservation online and, since I would need to use the points I am currently using for the THV to book BCV or BWV, I know I will need to do that before I can book anywhere else.

Trouble is, I know that getting anything at BWV/BCV for October is practically impossible at the 7-month mark so I am worried that, by the time I cancel the reservation to free up points, any availability would be gone. And, because it would be the 7-month point, I am (slightly less) worried that I will also lose the THV (I say less worried as I actually don't think the THV is going to be practical for us now anyway).

If I call MS and have them check and do the transaction, are they essentially just doing the same thing, i.e. is there still the same risk that I could end up with no booking at BCV/BWV due to the time taken to free up points :confused3

Is it possible to log onto MS from two different computers, one to check availability and another to cancel, if necessary (or will the IP address being the same prevent that?)

Really, knowing how slim the chance is, I just want to figure out the best way. Since I'm not completely bothered about losing out on the THV, is it better to cancel that booking first before checking for BCV/BWV availability?

And, as an aside, for a 2-bed villa in the Epcot area, I am guessing that the best chance of getting one is BWV. What category (given that I already know Standard view is likely to be a no-go)? Boardwalk or preferred view? Which have the most 2-bed villas in that category?

Thanks for any help you can offer :flower3:

It is unlikely you will be able to reserve 6 consecutive nights at BWV or BCV in Oct at 7 months out. In any event, if you attempt change on-line you risk losing existing reservation and not getting new one during the interim between cancellation and new booking. If you call MS to do it, it should be able to hold the new reservation while canceling the old one; you should request that when calling. However, be aware that some MS personnel apparently disclaim they can do that hold or do not know how to do it.

Also be aware in making your choice that SSR THV is likely to be available at 7 months out, with some risk otherwise Columbus Day weekend. Thus, you may have a low risk of not being able to rebook original reservation if you do the change on-line.

The number of CM's at MS who can hold inventory is very limited, only managers and team line have that ability.

I recently did this. I asked MS if I could have done it on line. MS advised me against it because I might have lost one week while canceling the OKW ressie and then trying to book the AKL week.

Thanks for your input. I'm really not concerned if I lose the THV reservation since we will likely reserve something else if we can't get BWV or BCV (from what I have seen, there are a lot of steps up to those tree houses and my in-laws are unlikely to be able to make it up and down those steps several times a day.

Is it really that unlikely that we will get anything at either of those resorts for our dates :confused3 Is it worth waitlisting if I can't get it at 7 months?

If your inlaws may have difficulty with the Treehouses I would just cancel those ressies the early morning of the 7 month window and chance getting BW or BC. The worst that can happen, you book SSr, OKW, or AK 2 bedroom
and waitlist your other request. (note: your best chance on an EPCOT resort is a pool view BWV).

Thank you, I think I will release the THV reservation and try my luck at getting BWV pool/garden view.

There are a few THV with ramps instead of steps going up to the THV. You just need to reserve one of those.
