WHAT IS THE BEST DOLPHIN EXPERIENCE ON WESTERN CARIBBEAN??

We are going on the Fantasy on July 20th and can book excursions soon. My kids are 5 and 8. Any other recommendations for 2 boys on excursions??

Costa Maya?
Cozumel?
Grand Cayman?

Thank you for the help!!

Forget those and go to SW-DC in Orlando. You can get a whole day at Discovery Cove for a little more than they charge in the Caribbean.

I did Dolphin Discovery Royal Swim in Cozumel and it was great. I was on a RCI cruise that trip and booked independently and it was much cheaper than the cruiseline price. I think DCL contracts with them so if you want to book the cheaper prices, you need to say you are staying at a hotel in Cozumel.

I can tell you that we did the dolphin swim at Dolphinaris in Cozumel. It was me and my 6 year old daughter. We really enjoyed it -highlight of the cruise!

It was a short cab ride from the pier. Small groups in the water. Decent restrooms/showers and a nice snack bar if you want to eat. Be prepared to buy the pictures/videos - nice souvenir but expensive.

In researching, I chose Dolphinaris as it is an enclosed pool and isnt in the open water. My dd wasnt the strongest swimmer(you have to wear life jackets) but since it was just the two of us, I didnt want to have to deal with waves or rough water.

It was easy to get back to the ship - there are taxis waiting when you are ready to go back. Overall, I would recommend it!

We did the dolphin encounter at Grand Cayman because it included the turtle farm. We really liked it and would definitely do it again. The price for pictures was a little high but the kids got t-shirts that were very reasonably priced and I liked that you could get a shirt with your dolphin's name on it. I thought that made a great souvenir.

We did Dolphinaris in Cozumel and it was wonderful! We booked the very first swim of the day and our group of three (me, dh, dd) had one trainer and dolphin to ourselves. When our time was up and we were leaving, we couldn't help but notice that the other groups coming in were all large groups. We got so much individual time with our dolphin and there is no way those groups behind us could have done that. I recommend going early to get more interaction.

I implore everyone considering a "swim with dolphins" experience to PLEASE do your research. This industry is inherently cruel to dolphins. If you truly love and admire these magnificent animals, you will not support the capture and cruel treatment they endure by patronizing these establishments.
