What is the best bet for obtaining basic groceries?

I am very confused by this issue. I want some bottled water, juice, a few snacks etc for my room. I could probably pack snacks in my suitcase, but obviously juice and water are not a packing option. I have no plans to go crazy with large amounts of food in my room. I was planning on taking a shuttle and not renting a car.

What is the best way for me to obtaining a few basic groceries? Are they available at resorts or is there a reasonable alternative? Wouldn't delivery be overkill for us, and isn't there a minimum $$ that you must spend?

You might be able to find a few things at your resort food court or gift shop. We rented a car even though we stayed on property and it was a lifesaver because my kids both came down with illness and I had to get a few items from Goodings (grocery store located near downtown Disney).

All of the resorts will have a small store with your basic stuff. Milk, soda, juice, breakfast stuff, snacks even beer & wine. It sounds like this will be enough to for you.

If you want to post your resort you will get more specific answers as to the best way to get your groceries.

We usually take a towncar from the airport to our resort and they will include a grocery stop. It does cost more than a shuttle but at least it is private and waiting for you at the baggage claim when you arrive.

I am staying at the Poly and have never stayed at a WDW resort before.

If you have a rental car go to Publix off of 192. They will have the best prices. Goodings by downtown Disney is way too expensive. No car leaves just the resorts (each of which have small stores with various snacks and drinks.) If you need help locating anything else you can conact myself or my wife at thecruisesource.com. ::MickeyMo

In December we did Tiffany Town car and found it cost the same as if we'd done the Mears Shuttle bus that we'd done previously prior to having kids. We requested the 20 minute grocery store stop and loaded up on bottled water, juice boxes, milk, and oj as well as cereal, bagels and cream cheese to last us the week. Definitely will do it again next time!

I think it's worth it to do a town car transfer if you can. They usually include a free 1/2 hour grocery stop. We are using Prestige, and the were $80.00 roundtrip. That's for 4 of us...so better than Mears.

We have used www.WeGoShop.com in the past and been very pleased. I would imagine if you call them with your list they would tell you if it is too few items for them. They are very nice and you may be surprised. They receive a lot of positive comments on this board.

Click the Lake Buena Vista area on the website.

Oh you will LOVE the Polynesian it is my favorite resort. You can get what you need at either Captain Cooks the counter serve restaurant or Samoa Snacks.
Here is a great link with info on the Polynesian -

Before Magical Express I would have recommended taking a towncar, we love this option, but with ME and you only needing a few things you may be better off with the convenience of ME and buying what you need at the resort.

If you want more info on the town cars check the transportation board. Basicly for 80-100 plus tip you will be met at baggage claim and taken directly to your resort, via grocery store if you like.

Have Fun
