I don't think this is the right place to post this, so sorry in advance!

What is, in your opinion, the best and the worst airlines to take to WDW?

What airlines did you find to be the most comfortable, fastest, etc.?

Is Spirit Airlines good?

Thanks!

I live in the NYC area and it is JetBlue for me. No other airline compares. Individual TV screens, low fares, great flight attendants, more legroom in the back of the plane and great snacks.

Spirit is good from a fare standpoint but nothing else. The seats are VERY close together and you will have a seatback in your face all the way to WDW.

Before Jetblue I used to fly Continental and they were just fine. They have a good on time rating as well and I will fly them when I can't get a flight on Jetblue.

Hope this helps.

Linda

Although I live in Ma. I fly out of R.I. because of convenience.

I like a direct flight as cheap as I can get Green airport in R.I. offers me this with Southwest's $49 flight to Orlando, plus even with traffic it only takes 35 minutes to get to the airport.

Check in your area for dependable flights that go directly to your destination and compare the prices.

I know a lot of people don't like Southwest because of their cattle herding process, but now you can get your boarding passes on line the night before. A win, win reasonable solution for short flights.

In my opinion, Jet Blue cannot be beat. Direct TV, reasonable fares, and no delays in my 12 trips with them. They also seem to have a different philosophy about flying, and they succeed in making it as pleasurable as possible. For example, in the backs of the seats they have cards explaining how to do airplane yoga. When we landed in San Diego and were waiting to de-plane behind a long line of people, the captain came over the PA and said "Waiting in line to de-plane is one of the worst parts of the trip for people in the back of the plane...except on Jet Blue where we open the back doors." With that said, the flight attendant opened the back door of the plane and we were escorted out down a waiting staircase.

SouthWest? We refer to them as "South-WORST."

We took Spirit last time we went to Disney in '99. It was really convenient flying out of Atlantic City...none of the hassles of Newark.

As LJC1861 said though, the seats are pretty squished and they don't really offer anything. On the flip side, I don't want to go to NY to fly out when I'm 45 minutes from AC.

We're using Spirit again in November.

I have been very happy with Song. They fly from all 3 area airports, but LGA is always cheapest. You can do EVERYTHING online very simply. Leather seats, lots of legroom, Direct TV at every seat, Good food, great attitude, etc....
My vote for Song as best
As for worst, Spirit is the lowest of the lows

This is one of those open ended questions with no real right response.

All airlines have people who love them and people who hate them. LOL!

JetBlue is pretty popular, but they have limited routes.

Song is getting good reviews right now, but last year people were screaming about thier schedule changes.

Southwest is very popular on these boards if you can live with the seating....

I fly Delta and for the most part I like them, but I travel a lot and have had bad experiences on everyone I have flown. (Which pretty much includes all the majors and most others with the exception of JetBlue and Sprint)

Another vote for Song.

They pretty much match JetBlue for services, (TV's- Dish Network), leather seats, yoga, and great prices; but they have the backing of Delta to help them out.

Flight delayed/broken down? They can put you on any Delta flight.

You get Delta Frequent Flier Miles, and can earn miles on any Delta FF plan, and use them on Song.

They have changed schedules in the past, and will probably do so again, but I like the fact that at a busy time of year, they can (and have) added flights just because it will be busy.

Not only are the backed by Delta they are owned by Delta.

My personal favorite, Southwest and Delta second.

I've flown 2 airlines in the past 10 years.... Delta and Northwest. Do I have a preference? Whichever I can get the cheapest in 1 plane change or less.

My opinion of Spirit is based on my experiences. Older equipment, late flights, cramped seats, no leg room, no in-flight entertainment, dirty cabin, unfriendly staff,etc...
Need any more examples
Good Prices though if you can deal with all the minuses

All valid reasons. The last time I flew with Spirit, everything was spotless, and the staff was friendly and hysterical to boot. Our flight was on time, even early on the way home. I'm in total agreement with the small, cramped seating though.

You're the first person I know of to have had problems with Spirit.

Very interesting. I'll get back to you in November and let you know how this flight turned out.

Where we live (Dayton, OH) the best option is Airtran. Nonstop flight, reasonable fares, a young fleet of aircraft (5 yrs or less) and no problems so far!

I am taking Spirit in October. I got our flights at $39 one way so I will happily take cramped seats and no movie for all the money I have saved! They way I look at it, it's only a few hours out of our week long vacation. It will take us less than 3 hours to get from LGA to MCO so we can keep busy reading or playing games.

I have been watching that program "Airline" on A&E and it is a reality type show about the employees of Southwest. After having watched this show now for a few weeks, I am happy not to be flying with them. They employees seem realy great but the airline policies are not what I want to deal with. I don't like the idea of no assigned seats or overbooking. All airlines must overbook though...I don;t know! I am going to have a blast regardless of how the flight goes. I saved hundreds by flying with Spirit.

The Airline show would be a LOT worse if they showed it using some other airlines LOL! The only difference is SW does not have unassigned seating.

Their overbooking is actually less then Delta's (and by extension Song!), but greater then JetBlue which does not allow overbooking.

And SW's employees are generally nicer then a lot of the others. There is one airline at my airport where they really believe talking to a customer is just such a burden on thier lives. Since I hate to bother them I just don't waste my money on a ticket with them LOL! (I won't post the name since they probably are great at your airport, I think it is a local problem!)

Wow! Thanks for all of the replies. I'm having such a hard time deciding whether to go with Spirit or not right now!

Thanks for everyone's help!:wave2:

Another vote for Delta-Song. Not certain if it's me or what but the flight seems so much shorter with their TVs.

Song...easy from BDL. Easy to fly (gotta love the tv thing) and NO NYC. Jetblue may be great but, there is no way I'm goin' to JFK!!!

Joe in CT

Hi Joe! I live in Branford. It is funny to bump into people who live so close.

Have you ever flown out of Laguardia? I am taking Spirit from LGA in October only because we got incredible rates. My friend is driving us in so I don't have to deal with CT Limo. I don't know what to expect since we have only used BDL in the past.
