What is the advantage to booking early for a May trip?

If I am right, we can only book room only ressies right now for 2009 and usually quoted at the highest price. If you try to switch to a package they cancel your reservation and then you have to re-deposit? So, what kinds of advantages have you all discovered that would make it worth booking room only now? I don't want to miss out if I should be booking today for May!

The main advantage is that you get the room type you are looking for. The standard rooms are the first ones to go as they are the least expensive type of room available at resorts. This is why we book about a year in advance.

Once codes come out close to your trip date, simply apply the code to your existing reservation and get a refund back if you are already PIF. We are PIF months in advance and use the extra months to make deposits to a savings account which we have nicknamed "Disney Trip Fund".

You do not have to cancel a package/room-only unless you switch from one to the other. The only reason to do that is if you want to include tickets/dining on an existing reservation. The biggest push right now is for a basic package which is basically a room-only reservation with the option to add tickets at a later date. In addition, you have to be PIF 45 days prior to trip date whereas room-only you pay 1 nights deposit and then pay balance when you arrive.

FOr a Preferred room at POP and then Concierge Level of AKL will probably be there if I don't book now since they are not standard rooms?

I want to do AP room plus dining for both parts of the reservations. Any further advice?

I would love to be PIF, which is a stress reliever isn't it?!!!
