What is the 1BR Value at AKV?

Another thing to consider for those with their plans built around getting a Value villa every trip, there aren't a lot of them and they go fast. If you look at this map, the Value rooms are located along the Giraffe and Ostrich trails in Jambo House (there are no Value rooms in Kidani). There are only 10 Value 1BRs in the entire resort and if someone books a Value 2BR, that takes a 1BR out of inventory since all of the Value 2BRs are lockoffs.

They are a great bargain but you can't count on getting one every trip.

Okay- now I'm concerned. We are new DVC owners with our home resort at AKV. We are a family of 5 and based our points purchase on a one bedroom value!!!! At no point was it communicated to us that there are no value one bedrooms that sleep 5!!!!

Looks like you will have to borrow points or buy an add-on contract. Another issue is that you will not get a value room each time that you try.

There are several aspects of the DVC that you learn about or understand better after you buy.

Disney does point reallocations that may also cause you to come up short on points. After there last one, our favorite vacations now costs us 30 some extra points per year.

that's in the front of the resort near the entrance. and you'll notice that some room numbers are not colored in - that's because they are not DVC villas.

I'm an AKV owner and ditto what other said. Is is pretty difficult to get value rooms. Period. It's possible, but hard to get a big block of dates for a long period of stay. If you have to fit 5, then your choices are limited and you are already not going to fit in a value studio or 1BR value. A 2BR value is very hard to come by, since every time someone books either a studio or a 1BR the 2BR effectively is shut out.
