Why is the "value" villa so many less points? Will the 1BR value accommodate 5 people, 2 adults and 3 children?
Thanks!
Yes AKV's Value rooms were created by converting the space occupied by two Regular AKL hotel rooms. One hotel room became a master bedroom, bathroom and laundry area. The other hotel room became a living area and kitchen. So I'm guessing the 1BR "Value Level" at AKV is made up of what used to be two regular hotel rooms? Correct? So it's not a typical DVC 1 BR. I thought maybe it was a bad view or something that made it less points. But they won't allow 5? In what used to be two rooms that allowed 4 each? And the GFV studio will allow 5? Hmm.

Thanks for the explanations. I'm trying to help a friend squeeze in one more trip with her very limited DVC points, so looking at all options. Her children are 9, 7 and 4. I knew the value AKV rooms were hard to get, but she does own at AKV, so thought it might be an option. MS has allowed the 5 of them to be booked in 1 BRs at BCV, BWV, BLT and SSR, but I wasn't sure about the values.
So do all the "value" rooms at Jambo (studio, 1 bd, or 2bd) have good views? I always assumed the value rooms looked out at the trash bins or something. It just means that they're smaller?
They are Value rooms because they are three feet shorter. That's why they are called "Value" and not "Value View". It's not the view, it's the size of the room.So do all the "value" rooms at Jambo (studio, 1 bd, or 2bd) have good views? I always assumed the value rooms looked out at the trash bins or something. The only way the one bedroom value villa will hold five is if one of the guests is under the age of three. You cannot put five guests, aged three or older in the one bedroom value villa. They are strict on occupancy for the value villas. Four plus one. Not five.
Then you have a problem because they will not unless one is under 3 at the start of the reservation dates. I'm assuming you bought direct, are you close enough to change or cancel?Okay- now I'm concerned. We are new DVC owners with our home resort at AKV. We are a family of 5 and based our points purchase on a one bedroom value!!!! At no point was it communicated to us that there are no value one bedrooms that sleep 5!!!!

I hadn't linked the two thread's until now. Another option is resale. Remember you're talking to a salesperson, he has his and the employer's best interests at heart, not yours. We are about to send in our signed contract! This is just very frustrating! He met all of our kids and our focus was fitting a family of 5 in a room!!! Now I have to tell DH we need to either cancel or buy 52 more points or stay less days.

Yes, my DH is in sales - we know the routine, thus why I am doing my homework before we sign anything. I will speak to DH but I think we can still make this work. I have gotten over the initial shock I think we will just continue on with the contract. Someday in the future we can try adding onto our points but in the meantime we can rent or modify our reservation.
Yes. I'm all over the place today! Thanks for confirming! I would rather be a educated buyer then be in the dark about all of this. I'm sure there is so much more for us to learn!!!
