Ever since the latest referb I have been baffled at the new smell they pump through the ride.

What is it suppose to be?

I really dislike it. It's weird. Like old flowery coffee chocolate (if there were such a thing). It smells like nothing I can put my finger on. Help. :crazy2:

I haven't been since the refurb so I can only conjecture, but if I were an imagineer picking a scent for POC, I would think the scent of rum would be a good choice, given all the pirates running around sloshing about. Perhaps with gunpowder mixed in...
I'll be giving the matter some thought when I visit next week!

There's also a fiery/smoky smell when you go through the part where the buildings are on fire.

Yes although it didn't seem to be strong enough IMO.
I think its the first smell that I can't pinpoint and it actually smells like the mixture of orange and pine that you'd find in Soarin' Over California but I'm not sure if it is or not or what exactly its supposed to smell like.

Aside from the burning scene, I don't recall smelling a smell on the ride. I'll have to pay more attention to the scents next time and see

There are a few smells. Went on the Keys to the Kingdom tour, and was told there is smoke/fire scent (in the burning scene) and also rum. I believe there is another, but I can't remember what that one was...

Hmmm yes perhaps that's it because the time it smelled like that in Soarin' Over California and now in Soarin' Around the World is during ocean scenes.
I'm guessing you're supposed to feel like you're on a boat in the Caribbean surrounded by native fruit trees & flowers.

Alternatively, you can assume it's the ship's cargo, and it being Pirates, you probably stole it. Good job. :thumbsup2

Would help to know where you are smelling the one you can't identify. There are several smells added

There are a few smells now.
I can't pinpoint one of them but I know one is supposed to be rum where the drunk guy is talking to the cat. I find it really does smell like rum. So yummy!

This one was very in your face! I thought it was more strong vanilla, but rum makes more sense.

The spice trade was big in the 1800's. Perhaps it's supposed to be spice in the cargo hold?

In the beginning ship scene after you come down the hill and around where they're drowning the guy in the well. :)
Are you talking the one just after the drop and the big ship with the cannons?? If so, that one is supposed to be rum. The smell isn't all that strong on the ride sometimes (definitely smells a lot stronger backstage than it does in the ride!) and is not usually very recognisable.
