What is "short-sheeting" and why do they do it?

I've noticed in a few threads, people have mentioned that housekeeping has "short-sheeted" the bed and it sounds like it's taken a while to get it fixed in most cases. First of all, am I the only one who doesn't know what "short-sheeting" is? Also, if it's annoying, why does housekeeping do it? And, thirdly, is it not something that one can fix themselves?

Thanks!

well in college short sheeting is when you only use the flat sheet and fold it back up on itself. so when you climb in bed you only get half way before your legs stop. I find it hard to believe wdw would do this.

At Disney it is more a case of they put the sheet on too short to cover the mattress. Meaning they tuck too much sheet under the head of the bed and that does not allow them to tuck any under the foot of the bed. This is always the bottom sheet.

When you get in your feet immediately find the mattress pad and No sheet at the foot of the bed. You have to make the bed completely over.

I have no idea why they do this except they are just in too big a hurry to finish and move on. By doing this they can change the beds without removing the blanket and comforter. They just remove the sheets and tuck them under the head of the bed.

Hope that explains it.

I'm glad you asked. I knew what it was at the end of the bed but couldn't figure out why they would do that. I get it now. :grouphug:

Yep, I have to yank and yank and yank, the sheets, if not, my feet HURT! :confused3 Guess I will have to make the bed over the way I like it, and not have mousekeeping mess with it! :sad2:

Nope...you are not the only one who did not know what that meant! I find the college thing pretty amusing, with all of the pranks that went on in the dorm when I was in college, I am surprised that did not happen to me!!
