what is rope drope?

If you're in the park earlier than the official opening time (either through Extra Magic Hours or if they open the gates earlier) then you will not be allowed into some of the lands (any but Main Street if there's no EMH on, or Frontierland and Adventureland if there's EMH).

If you go to the entrance of these lands, a cast member will be there, holding a rope across the entrance. At the exact time of the official park opening, the cast member will remove the rope and let everybody into the land. The removing of the rope is known as "rope drop".

not to highjack your thread, but how early do they let non-resort guests enter the park prior to opening?
