Hello,
I know some of you might think that this is a pretty stupid question, but I am new to this all - what exactly is "resort hopping"?
Thanks

Can mean: checking out the various resorts for just a quick visit, or splitting a stay among 2 or more resorts.
Never confuse with pool hopping, which causes much gastro-intestinal upset among DISers! :flower:

Ahhhh, young grasshopper....resort hopping is when you stay at more than one resort during your vacation...We resort hop for almost all of our disney vacations...In August we will be staying at the Poly (GVC) for 3 nights and then we switch over to BWV for 3 nights...

There are 2 different sides to this debate...some would never resort hop as they feel it is too much of a hassle...Then there is the side that enjoys it, like us...we feel that by staying at two different resorts, it's almost like being on 2 different vacations...you get to experience the different resorts, and you can take advantage of the locations to enjoy the attractions in those specific areas...

hope this helps!!

Thanks!
Oh, I would never think of pool hopping! I don't believe that others should use the ammenties that resort guests pay for!
If I am having dinner at 'Ohana, is it ok for me to walk around the Poly grounds prior/after dinner?

Such a good Diser. ;) :goodvibes Walking around the grounds of the Poly would be fine. That's exactly what my definiton of resort hopping is. I resort hop when I want to walk around another resort and check it out. Others resort hop when they stay at different resorts during one vacation. :sunny:

Yes-In Jan. after eating at 'Ohana's early we went out and checked on the outside. My DD (5) loved playing on the beach. My DM and I watched from a chaise lounge. It was very relaxing and my DD had a great time. Several days later after eating at Kona's we were able to catch the Electrical Water Parade (wrong name-I know) and it was very nice, even though a little cold.

On our last day we ate at the CBR food court (spent our last dining your way points on food for the trip home) and my daughter then played on their playground and beach. We've never pool hopped-I wouldn't feel comfortable, but checking out the grounds, beaches, and playgrounds is fine.

We have resort hopped some trips and not on others. As you can see by me signature, our trip in Sept. 2004 was very "Hoppy". We stayed in 4 resorts (some of our party left WDW area for a few days and as it was me and my DD (5) alone, we economized by staying at PC for a few days). 4 resorts was at least 1 too many.

On our next trip we didn't hop at all. 8 days at PC. We decided hopping at least 2 resorts is better. We got a little bored with PC.

That being said, on our upcoming trip in Sept. we are staying at POFQ for 6 nights. Splitting the trip between 2 resorts would have made the "free" dining more expensive as we would have had to buy 2 one day base tix each.

Sometimes we resort hop so we can splurge on a few days and then economize the remainder. We've never found it to be a problem. Checking in, etc.
