Hi there. DH, Myself and DS(5) stayed at POFQ last Oct. and this Oct2-7 we will be at POP. We loved FQ, but since this was spur of the moment on our budget (free dining :cool1: ), we will be at POP. We are not really "hang around the resort all day people". We went to the pool once at FQ, loved it though. We are in the parks a lot and then rest and sleep. Do you guys think we'll like it? Do other kids like it there? Now, I am wondering if we should have chose ASmovies. I guess maybe I am just second guessing myself, I mean, we are at Disney, we'll have fun anywhere, right?! :cheer2: Thanks in advance for any replies! ::MinnieMo

I haven't stayed at Pop yet, but will be there tomorrow!!! I have stayed at Music tho. The big difference between the values and the moderates, IMHO, is the theming. The mods are more 'adult' in theming, while the values tend to be more 'childlike'...brighter colors, large icons, etc. There are no table service restaurants at the values but I enjoy the food courts there more than the one at POR. And there are no pool slides. That used to be a big deal for dd, but now that she is older and used to the slides at BW and BC, the slides at the moderates aren't such a big deal. So, she is happy with just the pool at the values.

Sure the room is a bit smaller, but not a lot. We have a totally diferent experience when we stay at a value resort. Usually it's just my dd and myself though. Dh is a real 'resort snob'...he likes staying deluxe for all the 'amenities'!! You'll have a great time!!

I am glad we are at least trying it for 1 day. Cause the next time we go back we may have a little one and that is what we will be able to afford...

We were there for the first time last week and we loved it! The theming was cheesy, tacky and most of all FUN!i My DD loved the giant playdoh can, Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head and the other icons. This resort is one big photo op. The pools were big and they never felt crowded and the food court was just fine! The rooms were fine as we don't stay in them except to sleep. I think you'll enjoy it!

Thank you so much for all the wonderful replies! :) I think we'll have a blast! DS has seen some pics online and he says it looks "awesome" :cool1:

Our resorts vary on how many of our teens friends go, Depending on how many we have to pay for 1 room =Deluxe 2 room = moderate 3 rooms =Value

We have stayed at Pop 2 times and I like it far above the All stars, reasons being

No sharing buses with 3 huge resorts, seems like less cheerleader/band groups and more families staying there, The lake is nice to look at and you can see fireworks of the other parks. Cool at dusk seeing the Tot. I wouldn't go back to All Star if I have the choice

I know there was a twister board and it seems like some other game things your 5 yr old would like

Yes it is tacky decore, smaller rooms , no restaurant etc but like you said it is on Disney property :earboy2:

We stayed at POP for the first time last Oct and it was great! I have stayed at all of the values and it is the best. I would agree with one of the other posters, less waiting on busses, at the all stars the buses go to all of the hotels, and there definitely weren't any school/band/cheerleading or sports groups there. We are going 9/30-10/7 and at first I booked the poly but after some careful consideration and asking my kids, I decided to book at the POP again. I showed my kids a book about wdw and the resorts and told them to look at it and read up and they still chose the POP. So, after thinking it over with me and dh and kids we changed to POP. FYI- the deposit I put for the room at the poly paid for 80% of the total for the room at pop, we only owe $160 left, the total for one week at pop was $461 and the total for the room at the poly was $1,826. We are not really wealthy people but I had decided to splurge and treat myself at the poly but when I saw the savings I couldn't spend the $$ for the poly and besides, we are never really in the room except to sleep so I know I made the right choice. Hope this helps you decide.

BTW my ds is 7 and dh is 5, I think yours will love POP! I agree with everything that has already been said. You really can see fireworks and the huge icons were great!! Enjoy no matter what!

Kim - we'll be there at the same time! I plan to wear the lime green! Have a great trip! Thanks everyone for all the replies. :flower: I feel much better about our decision now! ::MinnieMo

We liked POP too and have stayed at all the mods and a couple of deluxes. It was fun, rather than romantic or subdued. There is also a pop jet area that the kids seemed to enjoy when we were there.

We splurged and stayed at the Poly last January and all I could think was $234 a night for this? I could have been just as happy at a moderate for less than half the price. And Pop is just fine for a cheaper option.

My family and I just  POP!!!! WE were in the 50s section, Building 2, 4th floor, and with Wishes and Illuminations view. The foodcourt (Everything POP) has a lot of different selections in my opinion including: Shrimp Lo Mein, Chicken Parmesan, Chicken strips, Burgers, Macaroni and Cheese with bread sticks, Dirt Pudding for dessert, and Tye-Dyed Cheesecake. Those are some of our fav. We also liked how there was a short walk to the main building. (Everything POP, gift shop, and Fast Foward Arcade.) There is also a pool in the 50s section called the Bowling Pin pool. I hope this helps you out! If you have any questions, just ask and I'll try to answer them!!!

The way I see it. The pop is the best value for the free dinning plan. I wanted to stay at POR, but it didn't make since with the free MYD to get a more expensive resort. :sunny: :goodvibes

We have only stayed at PC - but I tell ya - for the amount of time you are actually in your room....it is so worth it!!! Let's face it -- by the time you actually are in the room it is to sleep & to shower -- they have beds & a shower....what more do you need?? There are 3 themed pools, at a ton of terrific larger than life icons all around it....My DH & I were looking at the photo's on allearsnet.com and we said -- I don't remember this & I don't remember that!! THere is so much to do there that you won't see it all anyways!! And the music is awesome! Very upbeat - even my DD6 came home singing The Hustle and Dancin Queen, etc. etc. We probably won't stay anywhere else because it is all you need - the price is great and the atmosphere is fun fun fun!! Wooo Hooo 18 days and counting!!!

I know this reply is a little late, but better late than never!! Cindermom I hope everyone answered your questions and I personally think you will love it! Maybe we will see you there!! Have a heck of a good time!!!!
Kim
Ps I am so excited!!! Only less than two months to go....
BTW on last post I meant to put ds is 7 and dd is 5 not dh, but hey I guess he acts 5 sometimes ! :rotfl: same difference

We have ressies for CBR for December, but just this afternoon I started thinking about staying at a value. It is a trip with just me and dd7 and ds5. For what we save in the resort price, it would more than pay for our dining plan (that is, if free dining doesn't come out for December and we have to pay for it).

Now, the only problem is the cheerleaders. Don't flame me! I'm kinda worried because it is just me and my younger children on this trip and I don't want my kids overwhelmed at the pools and food court and on the buses. Our dates are 12/9 - 12/14 so I think we may be missing most of the time the cheerleaders are there. Do you think staying at POP would be a mistake?

I definitely want a room close to the bus stop since I won't have dh there to help me carry sleeping children from the bus. Which building should I request? Also, Jessica mentioned that she was able to see Illuminations from her window. Can I request a room in the "50's, bldg. 2, 4th floor"?

Mary

Um, as far as cheerleaders go, I have no clue since we have never been at any type of resort when something like that is going on. Pop sounds really nice! :cool1: As far as the dining plan goes, it would probably be almost enough to pay for it if you went from CBR to Pop. :confused3 I can't wait to go on this dining plan! I like when things are pretty much "all-inclusive".
Kim-thanks for the reply! How thoughtful of you! :sunny: Have a good one!

I may be wrong but I am pretty sure that most of the groups (schools, sports teams, bands and cheerleaders) I think they mostly stay at the all stars. I didn't see any of these type groups at pop when we got there. I think you will be alright with your room location as long as you don't get in the 90's building. That was my only complaint, we had a long way to walk to the food court and busses. Alot of the days we just walked through the parking lot because it was easier and closer. My kids kept saying " why do we have to be in the giant cellphone!" I think you will enjoy it, we did.

Loved POP in April! It was the first trip for our 4 1/2 DS to WDW. We had lots of fun.We had no problems staying there. We were in the 50's bldg facing the landscape/parking area. Close to main bldg. POP is GREAT!

We loved POP during our stay last year. I've also stayed at the Poly, POR, AS Movies. While I loved the Poly, for the price POP can't be beat.

i think kids would like it as there are lots of giant"toys" around( we were by the giant big wheel) and the pools looked fun one had little flower sprinklers plus the water spray park with goofy and surf board (?)was always in use even in colder Jan... we probably will stay again unless the mods are really cheap. the rooms were fine for the 2 of us and i don't think a "little bigger" makes much difference with kids cause it's not like 2 feet gives you more privacy. we are however basically at the room to sleep and shower, don't even eat a lot at our home resort cause we like to try differnt places. did think the food court was pretty good though with a good selection( something for everyone) and the single location for the bus stop good since you could eat and go straight out to the bus ( not at all inconvenient imo)

We just did Pop in July...my first time at a value (only done deluxe and home away from home) and we loved it. As someone else noted, the price can't be beat. It really is a fun resort (love the music through the different areas) and we definitely will go back. I think if you are going to hit the parks hard especially it's a great place....the food court has SO much to choose from. It can get loud in the eating area, but that's the only thing I saw. Very cute resort.
