I have been hearing about pirate night. What is it, and what do we need to bring to join in and get in the spirit? We took the 7 night cruise in 03 and I don't remember a pirate night.
Just got back from our local disney store and they finally have the tiny Mickey and Tigger dressed as pirates. 2 for $10. Plan to put them away and bring them out for the dgks just before we head out for dinner. They will never stay awake for the fireworks or party. Anything special during the day.I think that is the Nassau day (3 day Wonder) and we will probably stay on the ship? pirate: pirate: pirate:

OMG this sounds like so much fun! We're cruising w/ our friends and thier children and are already planning to hit the after halloween sales. We don't cruise until Feb. :earsboy:

You eat in your dining room. The deck party starts at 9:45 on deck 9, just like the Tropicalifragilisticexpialidocious party did. :) LOL! That's why they changed it! ;)
The deck party begins at 9:45? What if we are on the late seating for dinner? Won't we miss the deck party?

On our cruise last month you could find pirate t-shirts, hats and other accessories onboard at the Mickey's Mates store.
Pretty expensive since it is on board? Sell out quickly?

Target had cute pirates costumes for both girls and boys last year. I think I'll pick them up some this year and surprise them with them on our January cruise. So it looks like I only need to get them two new dresses then for our three night cruise?

Bump...the question about having late seating is a good one? Do you dine and dash so you won't miss anything?

I guess that you will have to let your server know that you plan to leave dinner early to attend the deck party. The characters don't show up until 10:10 or 10:15 but we like being right up front with the kids so they can see everything & we can get good pictures.

No, there is nothing special done for pirate night during the day. You may be surprised how late your GKs will stay up with all of the excitement on the cruise. Maybe a nap would help. Our 3 & 5 yo were wide awake on the first cruise when it was tropical night. There was a deck party & they were out there dancing the entire time. They crashed at 11. :)

There is also pirate attire that you can purchase in the ship stores and the POC ride in WDW.

Dressing up is fun and it makes this terrific evening even more special. You will enjoy this one!! :sunny:

It can run you a pretty penny (just like everything else onboard) if you're not careful, but there's so many great things to get it's hard to keep track sometimes! We actually didn't know about the items sold onboard, so we actually picked up our items at the Pirates of the Caribbean gift shop at Magic Kingdom before we sailed. There's actually a much bigger selection of pirate merchandise there, but the prices are pretty much the same from what I remember. We did not see anything sell out completely, but I think it was because either there were some people who did not know what the party was all about or did not care to spend any extra money on them. However, we did see a few people with pirate accessories, so it would be safe to say that there were some who brough their own instead.

Does everyone dress up?

DH loves a good time, but dressing up is really not his thing.

Am I wrong or is it not tropical night as well? I was thinking colourful, Hawiian type clothes for the night.

We wore our tropical outfits that night and it was fine. Some people dressed up but not the majority I would say. You should do whatever you are comfortable with - no one will feel out of place whether dressed up or not IMO.

Pirate night replaced Tropical night on the ships. Last year I had already bought us matching tropical Mickey outfits when the change was made so we just wore them. This year we are going all out with pirates. :)

DH is really not wanting to buy/wear pirate accessories, since we already bought tropical attire. Is there another night that is more on the tropical theme? Or will we look like we "missed the memo" and be out of place wearing tropical clothes to pirate night?

Okay. So bottom line... buy pirate accessories at WDW or on the ship?

Disnetnut4ever,
I have seen people in tropical attire every night at dinner, even at Lumiere's.
It would be especially nice in Parrot Cay because it is so tropical.
We saw have some people in tropical attire on Pirate Night. It was about 70% dressed like pirates the other 30 percent in other clothes so you will fit in just fine.
