What is photopass?

Hi Everyone,

I’ve seen a lot of posts about a photopass. As I understand it, Disney takes photos of you as you are about in the parks and then you can purchase a disk of the photos that you want later at DTD? Where do you pick up the photopass? At your hotel at check-in? Do you only pay for your photos and not for the actual pass when you receive it?

The actual Photopass card is issued to you by the CM that takes your first picture. From there you can give the card to other photographers and they will use the same card to take other pics throughout your trip. There is no charge for the photo pass card, only if you buy the pics. You can get the pics on line when you get home or throughout the parks while you are there. Here is the description best described by Disney themselves

Disney's PhotoPass provides Guests with the ability to view, share and order the photos that Disney Photographers take of them by going to an online site.

When Guests have their photos taken, they will get Disney's PhotoPass, a card that has a web address and a unique 16-digit number printed on it. They will go to the website, type in the number(s) from their card(s) and will be able to see their photos. Guests may get more than one pass while on vacation. Each pass can "hold" an unlimited amount of photos.

Guests may also purchase unique keepsake products including:

Disney's PhotoMovie -- a one-of-a-kind DVD that combines the Guest's favorite Disney vacation photos with video clips of Walt Disney World, the Disney characters and exclusive Disney music.
Photo Greeting Card -- create greeting cards featuring your Disney vacation photo!

Disney's PhotoPass is a new service that allows you to go online to see and share your Disney vacation photos. No more waiting in long lines at the end of the day.
Be sure to hang on to Disney's PhotoPass. You can use it every time you get your picture taken by a Disney Photographer so they you can see all of your vacation photos at one time.
Get your photos taken in all of the Parks -- our Photographers can be found in locations in all four Parks as well as Pleasure Island at Downtown Disney.
Log on to www.DisneyPhotoPass.com and see all of your vacation photos, e-mail them to friends and family and even order prints of your favorite shots.
Guests can still view and purchase their photos in the parks. See below for locations.
Operational Information:

Disney's PhotoPass cards will be distributed via the Disney's PhotoPass Photographers and to some Guests through special promotions
Disney's PhotoPass Photographers will be available in the following locations (subject to change):
Magic Kingdom -- along Main Street USA, Ariel's Grotto and Mickey's Toontown Fair
Epcot -- near Spaceship Earth and at designated Meet and Greet locations in the Park
Disney-MGM Studios -- along Hollywood Boulevard, Sunset Boulevard, Al's Toy Barn, and Mickey Meet and Greet on Mickey Avenue
Disney's Animal Kingdom -- Outside the main entrance, the Oasis/Tree of Life, Camp Minnie Mickey and the Discovery Character Landing
