What is Pandora like for an avatar fan?

I am not an avatar fan. I tried to watch that movie many times and can't get past the first 20 minutes... I've be lucky to have seen Pandora on 2 different pre-opening visits so far and to me it's a scenic area, with interesting food and not enough things to do...

Today I saw a vlogger video of someone who was a huge fan of the movie and they were picking up on little things that seemed to enhance the story of the area. For example, I thought the River ride was just a nice ride through pandora at night with an animatronic at the end. I never picked up that it was a journey to see the shaman sing and everything was moving the same direction as me to see her. Not much of a story but it wasn't just random things on screens anymore after knowing that...

So for those of you who are avatar fans.. What have you noticed that you feel knowing the movie enhanced the experience?

EVERYthing I read tells me that you do not need to watch the movie to appreciate Pandora. This area is based when the Na'vi and humans come together in peace and harmony.

This is a good question! I never thought about it that way.

I remember when the movie came out, some people were having depression after it was over, they wanted to stay in Pandora. I wonder what reaction they would have to DAK Pandora

I watched it the weekend before we went for AP preview so it was fresh in my mind. Things that people may not understand when going who didn't see or remember the movie are the left behind goods scattered through out. They also may not remember/understand the importance of the Shaman. Remember it was only through all of them chanting/singing together with the Shaman that Jake was able to become a Na'vi. I actually thought what she was singing is the same as what they sang to do that. Not 100% sure though, fiance who loves avatar said it was just similar but not the same.

People who haven't seen the movie may not understand the significance of Woodsprites and how they are only said to gather for those that are pure of soul/heart. So the fact we see them while on the Navi boat ride means we all are deemed worthy by Eywa.

Correct, I enjoyed it without knowing the movie.. This thread is asking those who love the movie what they see different than someone looking around saying "oh look a tree, a funny plant, a boat ride at night, mcdonalds cheeseburgers turned into an asian style bun.". There has to be some thigns that are better because you know the movie but that doesn't mean someone who doesn't won't enjoy it..

My mom watched it multiple times in theatres, and she loved Pandora. She was pointing out details to my kids that I never would have known (I have no interest in seeing the movie). Most notable, she recognized the "cleansing plants" right away.

I am a big fan of the movie but will not get to see Pandora for several months (which reminds me, I need a countdown to October!). While I doubt it is necessary to have seen the movie to understand things, I do look forward to the winks and nods to the film that the fans of it will no doubt pick up on.
