What is on National's Emerald Aisle? *2011*

Maybe I can ask here... I'm an Emerald Club member and don't have my card. Have a midsize reserved for next year and plan on using the EA. Do I need my card for that? I have no idea where the original card went, and I requested a new one months ago but haven't received a replacement.

We can survive in a midsize, but am kind of excited about the adventure of discovering what's on the EA...

You won't need your card, just your EC number.

We have a full-sized car booked with National at MCO. I would book mid-size for Emerald Aisle, but really want a large trunk and not sure I want to gamble that not being available.

Any chance of getting a Camry? I noticed that you can book that specifically at Hertz, but at a ridiculous upcharge. I love my Camry, so it's a preference, though certainly not a deal-breaker or worth an upcharge.

i agree completely with you about the quality we have received at Orlando ( volume probably helps ) as we had little selection at SNA last week when we were in California..we are probably spoiled by the service we have received in Orlando

we have always been pleased how we have been treated there especially when we have had "difficulties" with cars during our rental period, very good customer service

it is nice to see your posts here, thanks for contributing

We do have a huge volume of cars going in and out. And since we do have three companies to maintain, we have a lot of cars. The 2012s have started to arrive, it will be fun to see what changes have been made to the various models.
This company treats their employees exceptionally well, I enjoy my job and it just makes good sense to treat our customers well, after all, they insure job security. :)

Chances are good that a Camry will be on the EA, no guarantees, however. Impalas have a larger trunk, btw and they are generally on the Aisle. It is rare (and I have yet to see it) that there are not full size cars on the Aisle.

Thank you! It's really nice to have you posting in this thread. :thumbsup2

I'll go check the rates for mid-size and see how much we can save. If it's only a little bit, I may stick with the guaranteed full-size, but otherwise will feel great knowing that full-size is highly likely to be on Emerald Aisle.

I picked up a car on Emerald Aisle on August 14. There were no Camrys on Emerald Aisle (I was hpoing for one myself) but there were lots of Impalas.

You are most welcome. Please, keep in mind that there are no guarantees that there will be a Camry on the Full Size row, BUT.......if you do book full size and there is not a Camry on the Full size, check Alamo, if there is one there, you can take it and check out via Alamo's check out. Now, if there is not a Camry in Alamo or National, ask at customer service. There might be one on the other side or in overflow.

Folks...I realize that this person appears to work for the rental car company, but....

If you do this, GOOD LUCK!

I had a "premium" reserved with National a month or so ago. National is now hiding all the premiums on the Alamo side at MCO so the Executive's won't 'self upgrade' . I was directed to Alamo. Drove out the exit. THIRTY, yes THIRTY minutes later the Alamo guy FINALLY figured out how to check me out using my National reservation. (Sorry anyone in line behind me, but I was not paying $200 a day for that car:rotfl:) The guy in the booth told me (A) "you don't have a reservation" (I gave him the number) (B) "that's National you have to pick it up on thier side" (I told him that the lot attendant said they weren't putting them out there and that we had to go to Alamo) and (C) "I can't access a National reservation" (I suggested he ask the folks behind me to move so that I could drive to the National exit) He finally called someone to get help!

So while this poster may know what to do if you show up at the Alamo exit with a National reservation that does NOT appear to be a universally true concept!

Well, if we get a Camry, that's GREAT, but I'm not going to sweat it or jump through hoops or anything. I really appreciate the options though! I'm sure we'd be fine with a Malibu or Impala or whatever's available. :goodvibes

No, we do not hide the Premiums in Alamo. Alamo and National use the same reservation/check out system, so, the attendant obviously did not know what to do. When the lines become very long at the National exit, we send them to the Alamo exit.

I don't "appear" to work for the rental company: I do work for the company.
It is unfortunate that you ran into this problem and I am sure you did not want to pay 200.00 per day for that car and I do not blame you at all. The incident you faced is not common (thank goodness) and I am truly sorry that someone told you that we are "hiding" the Premiums. The irony of this is that the Premiums on the Alamo side face the executive aisle. The Premiums on the National aisle face the regular aisle. If there was any danger of "self upgrading" it would happen there.

Oops, forgot one thing. There is a difference when you return a car. Alamo and National use different check in scanners (mainly cause you prepay with one and pay upon return with another). So, you do have to use the proper entrances for returns.

gmeh1 - As others have said, it's great having you post on this thread!

I have reserved a minivan on the Emerald Reserve aisle. Last year, I was in Terminal A and there were only two vans on the row to choose from - a Kia and a Caravan. We landed at a very busy time it seems.

This year, I will be coming in on Terminal B. What minivans (generally) do ya'll have on the van aisle? Just wondering. We have one less person in our party this year, so we don't necessarily need the biggest van on the row.

Perhaps you should tell your coworkers you don't hide the premiums in Alamo. Because one of them told me "the premiums are all on Alamo because the Executive Elite members were taking them" (After she told me that 'Elites are not entitled to a premium' and I pointed out that I had reserved one she was willing to tell me where they were hidden!) I know of at least one other traveler who was told the same thing.

And as for the issue of charging being incorrect, it rarely happens, but I have had it happen twice in Orlando which is why I don't drive away with out looking at the print out of the contract anymore. (And if they don't give it to you ask and check it folks!)

Question: I am an Emerald Club member. I have a Standard car reserved in a few days. If I see something I like better on the Emerald Aisle than in the Standard aisle, can I still self downgrade and take it with no problems?

I just got back on Monday - a day later than expected because of Irene. We arrived August 24th around 8:15 am and was THRILLED when I saw a few minivans on EA - side B. I had a last minute rate for a midsize for $118 for 5 days and really needed the minivan due to our party size (6) . Because of Irene, I had to extend the car an additional day and they only charged me $2.97! So for $122 I had a minivan for 6 days.
