I read somewhere that crab legs aren't included in the buffet price at the Cape May Clam Bake???? Is there anything else not included? Also, how much extra are these items?

there wasn't anything that WASN'T included when I went in September. Wonder if that changed ....doubt it though.

Generally Disney's approach recently has been to remove surcharged items from the menus rather than dealing with the issues associated with the surcharging.

The last time we were there, I don't remember any extra charges for anything. I don't remeber seeing a menu either for that matter. We were just told to go to the buffet and to ask if we had any questions.

I was there last year, and don't even remember crab legs being offered?!?!?!.........regardless, ask me again in 2 weeks, since we're leaving on 4/30, and that is one of our ADR's I made!!

Thanks everyone. I wish they'd just let you add things and pay extra. I suppose it's easier to just remove it entirely??

My guess is that the issue is that too many guests are dissatisfied by surcharges, so not having the menu item avoids that more common dissatisfaction.

I was there in Feb and I was just there this past weekend and the DO NOT offer crab legs or lobster at all....what you see on the buffet table is what you get

Having surcharges for certain items at an "all you care to eat" buffet is always going to cause some issues, especially at a family restaurant when the base price is fairly high to begin with.

The last time we were at Cape May was July of last year and I don't remember any items being available for a surcharge.

It's a very good buffet by the way. The only weak point was the desserts.

Quality seafood? ;)

(Sorry, given some of the negative reviews of the clambake, I couldn't resist.)

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: We're trying it for the first time. I try not to judge restaurants before trying them myselves. I'm HOPING that it will be ok. :goodvibes

That's a good policy. If I only went to restaurants that never had a negative review, I'd never go to a restaurant. Have fun!

I've been there, so I can say.... the seafood: Not so good.

Bicker, what is it that makes this restaurant subpar to you? Is the seafood flavorless, obviously frozen? What makes the seafood bad? We have very fresh, very good seafood around where I live, but we don't get clams or mussels. Soooooo, I wanted to try it out to eat something that I don't usually have access to very easily. I hope we hit it on a good day. :)

The mussels are a real problem. They're scrawny and not very fresh, as compared to what we get at the restaurants along the shore here in Mass. The last time I was there, the fish filet was smothered in a cream sauce, so perhaps it was Mrs. Paul's.

The American side of the buffet is excellent. :thumbsup2
