What is necessary to make a 180 day reservation?

If memory serves me correct, I need a 180 day notice from the start date of a WDW reservation with a WDW reservation number to book reservation... but I am curious... if I start my vacation July 3rd and leave July 10th, can I start booking 180 days before July 3rd for the entire trip? Or do I have to go online each day and book the other days?

Also--Just curious if I need to have a reservation for each day... for example, if I make my reservation for July 3-5, then decide to rent points for the latter part of the trip at OKW or someplace like that but have not booked them yet, will I be able to book the other dates (6th-10th)? I am guessing not... but curious if this would work.

Not entirely the case.

You need a WDW resort reservation confirmation number to book reservations at the 180 day mark for up to 10 days after that. It means you do not have to make reservations day by day if you have a longer trip.

You don't need anything just to make a reservation at 180 days out from the day you wish to dine. Anyone can do that.

If you want to call on the 180 day mark from July 3, if you have a resort reservation you will be able to make reservations for your whole trip that day. If you do not have a resort reservation you will have to make them every day.

I'm not up on split stays - I think they only allow it on the days of the first stay.

Thanks! Does anyone know if the reservation system actually matches up the days of your reservation with the 180 day mark up to 10 days after? If not, it should work... I just didn't want to nail down my plans for the latter part of our trip for a couple months. So this would help me.

I work for dining reservations and you'll only be able to book the days in your first reservation, up to 10 days. So if you stay July 1 to 3, you can book that on your first call, which would be 180 days out. If you change hotels on the 3rd, you'd have to call back for that reservation. Our system doesn't see names, just numbers.

Can you tell me if this works for Shades of Green too? I have a split stay which is SOG first 8/5-8/10 and then Poly 8/10-8/15.

SOG is not a Disney resort so you can only book those one at a time on the 180th day. For the Polynesian, you can book all of those on the 180th day for 8/10 (2/11/13).
