My wife and I have never been to DisneyWorld during Christmas time and was just wondering what is on everyone's must do list regarding Christmas theming (going to different resorts, certain countries in the showcase)....... we are staying at Poly 12/14-12/15 and BLT 12/16-12/23 thanks

"Hop" around to different resorts. They are all decorated and look beautiful! I especially recommend a trip to the GF to see the giant gingerbread house. It is amazing!

I love looking in the store windows! Last year on Main Street they did Mickey's Christmas Carol.
The story tellers in Epcot!
The Santa in America in Epcot is one the best I have ever seen:santa:
The Gingerbread houses are amazing:worship:
In Animal Kingdom they had trees for the characters back in Camp Minnie-Mickey.

Listen to the singers in the USA pavillion in Epcot!

Get tickets to the Candlelight Processional.

Visit MGM / HS to see the Osbourne lights. Take the time to really enjoy them. take in the details.

I would agree to try and see the different resorts, Osborne lights. and the Santas in Epcot. Also try to see the life size ginger bread house @ the Grand Floridian.

We went for our first ever holiday trip last year - and in doing research for that trip, I saw that a lot of people go over to Fort Wilderness Campground to look around at what all of the RV campers do to decorate their RV's and the grounds around their site.

While we didn't get to do it last year - I'd really like to do it this year after seeing some photos - I was really amazed at how "ALL OUT" some folks go in decorating their site!

I'm always amazed at what people haul there and set up! There was one grand villa last year at BLT that was decked out with a huge tree - lighting and garland on the railings (inside and out). It was very festive! :santa:

I agree with a night visit to FW, we were there at Thanksgiving in 09 and went to the campfire and movie then looked at all the lighted decorations on the way back to the bus stop :)

Go to Epcot, each country has a different holiday story that they present. We were able to do every story in one day, it was lots of fun. The schedule should be on the handout you get in the park.

All the gingerbread houses and decorations at the resorts are good too.

I second (or third??) the Osbourne Lights. That was one of the most incredible things I saw while at Disney in Dec of 08. Amazing! :)

well, just let me say, you will probably go back every yr during dec. it is our favorite and we've been every month.
-take in all the decor @ the parks/windows/trees, etc.
-tour the resorts, love going to WL and sitting by the huge fireplace
-we go to osborne lights more than once on our trip, walk around, drink hot cocoa, cappucino and enjoy the songs of the season
-on our 1st night there (11th) we are kicking our trip off @ DTD for dinner @ wolfgang pucks, take the bus to GF(look at the decor) and then hop on the monorail to watch wishes with the icicle lights on the castle and we are going to turn around and look at our group and say, "welcome to disney" oh, i can't wait.
have fun!

Get tickets to the Candlelight Processional.

No tickets needed for Candlelight,if you get the dinner package you get the best and guaranteed seats but there is a regular stand by line.Although if you're towards the end of the line and depending on how busy a day it is you might not get in as there are no guarantees.

I thought the Haunted Mansion was really cool at the holidays. I really hope I can go back sometime during Christmas to see it again.

I second the recommendations about Ft. Wilderness, but 2 years ago, we took it one step further and did the carriage ride they offer through the resort. It was so amazing to see how all the campgrounds were decorated and a beautiful way to see it all with a very knowledgeable driver who was a pure delight!

The other thing we did was went to a local church on Christmas Eve. I did research on the internet and found a church with similar beliefs to ours. It was so nice to do that and people were very friendly!

Of course, you cannot miss the resort decorations, Candlelight Processional and Osborne lights. There is so much to do! ENJOY!!:cool1:

My dh and I are planning our first Christmas visit also and love this site. THanks for posting. :)

If you have the opportunity, try to attend a night at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. It really puts you in the holiday spirit to see the characters in unique winter outfits, walk down Main Street while its "snowing", see the holiday parade and the special fireworks show.

We will be overlapping you by just a few days! :thumbsup2
We LOVE MVMCP, Osbourne lights, decorations at all the resorts, Camp Minnie/Mickey all the characters are dressed in there Hodilay attire.
The big trees at each park all decorated :lovestruc
It's just a great time of year to visit!!

Hi We always go to Gaylord Palms Hotel to see ICE. It is absolutely spectacular. They have everything made out of ICE, from Nativity Scene, to Santa Claus. It can be a bit expensive, it usually costs about $100 for about 5 of us, but I believe there is a new show this year called Snow at the Gaylord Palms so this maybe worth going to also.

Even just to see the hotel itself and the way it is decorated is worth it.

Hope you get a chance to see it. We would highly recommend it, and Christmas wouldn't be complete without seeing this along with obviously the other important one's, ie Epcot, Osborne Lights - which we always go to on Christmas Eve.

Have a great time.:santa:

All of these suggestions are making me really wish we were going at Christmas instead of next August. Our first trip was during the holidays and as it was the first trip, it was extra special. I too would recommend the Osborne lights, and Very Merry Christmas Party. The huge trees and all of the decorations at all of the parks was Disney-Special. And I have to say that the Lighting of the Castle the first time we saw that is a memory that still mists my eyes! I wish I was heading there for the holidays again this year. - Just more cost effective for us in the summer. Is it too early to wish everyone Happy Holidays!?

Probably a dumb question, but will the Santas at Epcot an MK be gone after Christmas Day? Also will the storytellers be gone after the 25th? We'll be visiting later that wk.
