There are all ages on this board - college kids thru grandparents, so your thoughts?

Read an article last week and discussed at party on Saturday . . .

*WHAT IS MIDDLE-AGE*?

The article said:

to age 44 = young adult

45 - 64 = middle age

65 - 79 = seniors

80 - up = elderly

:scared1: I am getting way too close to middle age!

Middle age is always a couple of years older than I currently am.

I'm 53 and I feel middle aged, I think middle age is 40 - 60 but as I grow older that top number may go higher. :)

The younger you are, the younger middle aged is.... the opposite is also true. The older you get, the older middle aged is.

Isn't this the truth.

I feel middle aged is about 55 or so ... my parents age. Not sure why - I only know one person that lived past 90. I am 31 and I assume 55 will go up a little every year I get closer to it :goodvibes

I have always thought the average person lives to 80-86 years old so to me middle age would be 40-43. Since I am 43 that would make me middle age, but I certainly do not feel it.

Well, my Gram just turned 92 last Sat. I told her thanks for the good genes and hanging around. The longer she lives, the farther I am from "middle age"! :rotfl:

Well crap! :lmao:

My son is 21 and I am 44 - therefore according to the question, we are both young adults.....Wrong!
He's a young adult, I'm just an adult
His Dad 52 (DH) who I do consider to be middle aged acts like a Senior......

Its all relative but I guess in my own mind I always viewed middle age as starting in ones 50's. Old enough to possibly retire but also young enough to still do just about anything one would want to do. I also always kind of tagged having grown kids to those who were middle aged.

Middle age is just how you feel. There are days I think I'm hundred and there are days I feel twenty. :thumbsup2

Middle-age is ten years older than I am - always. Until I die. Then it was half my life ago, per basic Wall-E1 Wisdom.

This is what I think:

18-29 young adult

30-39 adult

40-49 middle age

50-69 older adult

70 and up elderly

To me, middle age is when you can sit on the ground, but can't get back up.

As I age I see more and more denile, and that is not the river in Egypt, regarding individuals accepting their place in the stages of life. I am now 60 and feel that I had succesfully attained older adult status 10 years ago and now look forward to becoming elderly in 10 more years. Maybe because I continue to work at being healthy by bicycling 100+ miles a day or can complete a marathon without collapsing at the end gives me a different perspective on life and age. Not sure if I'll make 90 but if I do 45 is still the middle.
