Hi! We're toying with the whole DVC purchase. Are there any incentives to buying into Saratoga Springs? I am so clueless about all of this.

Why do one resort over the others? Advantages, disadvantages?

Thanks all!

First, you should buy where you want to stay. If you want to stay at SSR then buy there. Keep in mind however, that in spite of all the hype and deeds, taxes, etc--you really are only leasing points from DVC. If you do not plan on making your reservations before the 7 month mark-that is the 7 to 11 month mark then don't buy at SSR. All the points out there become the same regardless of price or where they are bought at the 7 month mark. The advantage of buying points at SSR is the leasing contract lasts 12 years longer than the others. The other leasing contract is over in the year 2042, I believe SSR is 2054. There are no incentives to buying SSR but they do have some buy in reductions in price if you give back points and things like that. I would think hard on whether WDW is the place you want to travel to every year keep in mind the place is not what is used to be, it is changing and has been for some time. While DVC accomodations are nice the question is WDW the place for you.

what about buying a minimal number of points like 50-100 and then use the golden rule .. "He who has the gold rules".. just buy from others what you need ..if you need another 50-200 points foa certain year than just rent from another DVC owner offer 8-10 per point its a fair deal for both .. and you save by not having to pay the maintenance fees fir paoints you dont need very year.

Current price at Saratoga Springs is $95 per point. Purchase incentives are as follows:

1. Pay the base price of $95 per point, with first points coming sometime after March 2005. No dues payments or interest (if financed through DVC) until mid-2005.

In addition, you receive a set of Developer's Points for use at any DVC resort OTHER than SSR between now and 9/30/05. This option is currently being billed as a "free vacation" by DVC. The number of Developer's points received is equal to the number purchased in your SSR contract (buy a 150-pt ownership at SSR, receive a one-time grant of 150 Developer's Points.)

2. Pay a discounted price of $85 per point, with the first points coming sometime after March 2005. No dues payments or interest (if financed through DVC) until mid-2005.

Basically, here is what is happening. DVC's point sales are well ahead of the SSR construction schedule. DVC has no more points to sell at SSR which can be used in 2004. The points they are selling now are for buildings that will begin to open in March '05.

In effect, they are either offering you Developer's Points for use in 2004, or they are giving you a flat $10 discount as compensation for not receiving any 2004 points. Developer's Points are points that DVC has acquired itself.

Hope this helps.

Thanks all! You've definately given me something to think about....
Hmmmm
Vacation Condo or DVC?
What would YOU do?

Remember that you have to buy a minimum of 150 points if you buy from Disney. We own 160 points at BCV and ALSO another TS in Williamsburg, Va. which we trade through RCI to go on another trip each year. Much as we love Disney, and don't think it has "lost" anything, we enjoy travelling to other places too so this works well for us. We have 4 kids so always need a 2 bedroom unit, and having a kitchen, washer/dryer, multiple bathrooms and tvs, ect. are the best! Which ever you buy, also check out re-sells. We did buy from Disney as we really wanted BCV and they were selling it at the time. We would love to add more points as finances allow, right now we will go to Disney every other year or so, or just shorter non-weekend trips. Good luck deciding....Lacee
