What is going on with Tempura Kiku?

We are sushi people living in non-sushi places and I planned our first full day (Sept. 17th) around dinner at the sushi bar at Tempura Kiku.

Now I'm reading all kinds of conflicting info about what's happening in Japan. Has anyone seen any real info about the new Tokyo Dining restaurant? Any guesses if they'll take ADRs?

I asked my Travel Agent, who tried to get me a reservation at Teppan Edo. I called Disney Dining but the CM was clueless.

I just passed the 40 day mark and things are starting to go downhill with RnR down, Tempura Kiku possibly closed and my Ridemax software totally on the fritz. I'm not superstitious but this is getting a little weird. :upsidedow

It seems that the info floating around about Teppan Edo / Tokyo Dining's re-opening is murky at best. There doesn't seem to be a clear answer about that. Even those of us who wanted the sushi and sake food and wine pairings during the Food and Wine Festival couldn't book anything because the restaurant wasn't available in the dining computer system.

That being said, I would suggest, if sometime in the evening you find yourself wanting sushi, take a walk out the International Gateway (between UK and France) and head to the Swan...and Kimono's. I haven't yet tried their sushi, but I have heard good things about it.

I've had sushi at WDW in the soon-to-be-formerly-known-as the Matsu No Ma Lounge, Wolfgang Puck Cafe's sushi bar, and California Grill. I really need to try Kimono's one of these days.

I'm not positive, but I think it's only open evenings, and they have Karaoke after 8:30pm from what I've read.

Thanks for the Kimonos suggestion. We're eating at California Grill, so we're guaranteed at least one sushi fix!

My TA was able to talk to a supervisor at Disney Dining who said that Tokyo Dining (which will replace Tempura Kiku and Matsunoma Lounge) will still be walk-in/first come, first served as far as they know.

No confirmation of opening date or anything, though.
