What is going on with lips?

O.K., nearly every day I torture myself during coffee break by reading the TMZ website. Many times, I don't even know who they're reporting about, but it makes me laugh sometimes, so I always look.

Something I've recently noticed--there is some procedure women are getting to plump up their lips. It looks horrible! Fake and weird. Who I'm talking about today are the woman Mel Gibson took up with (Oksana Grigorieva), Lindsay Lohan and some other chick named Joanna Krupa (no idea who that is).

I thought the Joker-look (e.g., Meg Ryan and Jessica Lange) was bad enough. Now it's the trout lip look. I don't understand why a young lady would even want to look like that.

Good question.. I remember one time when a soap actress had been off the show for awhile - a very pretty one, I might add.. Well - when she returned to the show her lips were so big they practically took up the entire bottom portion of her face - and - she always wore bright red lipstick! It was really awful - she was no longer pretty at all..

She has since backed off a "bit" on the lip treatments and looks better - but still not as pretty as she once was..

Do men really find those huge lips attractive?

Everyone wants to look like Angelina? Can't say as I blame then but she came by hers naturally.

And while I'm commenting, I must say that I think Lindsay Lohan's hair color is horrible--very brassy. It looks like a peroxide bleach job some teenager would do at home.

I think I know who you are talking about. When the actress I'm thinking of came back on the show after being gone for a year or so, I remember gasping at her appearance. I don't think her lips could have been inflated anymore without exploding.

Agreed. It's pretty ugly. Her mugshot from a few weeks ago is awful - that ugly hair color and puffed up fish lips!

So true, Ashley! Lisa Rinna's had such ugly lips for years, I'd forgotten about them.

What makes a woman look at someone like her and say, "I want my face to look that"? I don't understand it.

When I think bad plastic surgery, this is always the first woman who comes to mind:

They have fun dissecting what is wrong, usually show the before and afters. I think the one that sticks out the most is Heidi Montag. I had no idea who in the world that girl was, still really haven't figured it out, but it seemed like she was always on the front of my comcast homepage.

These (young) girls always dissatisfied with how they look. I have never been more grateful to have boys. So far they seem to be alright in their own skin. I know men aren't immune to the plastic surgery craze (Kenny Rogers--eww!)

Yep! She was on a show on MTV. The sad thing is she was cute before she had all the surgery.

What I think is weird is the very young actresses (like Lohan) doing it. While I would never do it, you can sort of almost understand the late-30 somethings trying things. I mean things do start to fall apart and they have to be so scrutinized that I understand them buckling to the pressure of lip plumping/botoxing, etc.

I just don't get a 20 something doing it. That is about your most flawless facial age. I just wouldn't mess with it.

It's one thing to get plastic surgery to look younger; it's a whole other ball of wax to play God and recreate your face.
