Help! My family has been camping in FW annually for 20 years and now I can't seem to find any availablility for anything. We REALLY wanted Halloween, but I have tried all kinds of dates even Halloween of 2010. Is something wrong with the online system or do they have some sites closed? SOOOO SAD! Does anyone have any suggestions?

only thing i can say is keep trying the holidays book up fast and i think even times of the year that once was slower are now booking up people are finding out that camping can be cheaper and are taken advantage of the time and booking dates we have heard of lots of people last minute cancelling or getting dates that they are looking for some people get what ever dates they can then keep looking for what they need to fill in they're entire trip good luck

I have found that its the Fridays and Saturdays that are the problem days. They book up fast. When you put in your dates, if any of your preferred dates include a Friday or Saturday, the web (and reserv. agent) gets an "unavailable" for all your dates. Try a Sunday through Friday block, and you'll probably get those dates...LOCK THEM IN...then keep trying for your Friday and Saturdays everyday til you leave for your trip.

I tried for the week days before and the week days after and they were both available just not for Halloween weekend itself(this year). Found premium sites available for next year including the weekend.

Thanks for all the tips. I will keep trying. My 3 DDs won't know how to celebrate Halloween if we aren't trick or treating in the Fort. It is awesome!!!

I just typed in October 23rd through November 6th, 2010 and both a tent/pop up site and premium site came up. You can always book more than you need and then take off what you don't want.

Often if you look for longer stays the sites magically are available.
I agree with the idea of booking about a two or three week stay and then calling back the next day to cancel the days you don't want. If they want to play the availability game I have no problem playing it too.
I wonder how much business and potential customers they lose because they are greedy and only want you if you stay for two or more weeks. I just don't understand the logic of disappointing people to the point where they just give up trying and they lose them forever.

That's exactly what happened to me. I wanted 10/21-10/27...wasn't available for ANY site. Tried 10/19- 10/28 and ...VIOLA all sites were available. I booked online then called the next day and cancelled the days I didn't need. Good luck...here's some pixie dust! pixiedust:

I was looking at some dates and the ones I wanted were not available so I tried adding days to my stay...It was odd, the more days I added, the more options I had for the exact days I wanted in the beginning. Following the advice and booking the extra days and calling back to cancel the ones I don't need.
