I am trying to plan a 4 day weekend to DL in late Feb early March 07 and if the a hotel isn't booked the price is very high.
We went last year, the second weekend in March and stayed at the Fairfield Inn across from the park for $129 Friday and Sat night. This year those weekends are either sold out of $200 a night.

Any suggustions or insight ????

Maybe this will help: http://www.anaheimconventioncenter.com/events.cfm

Also there are large convention centers in Los Angeles, San Diego and other places in SoCal that might offer Disney packages as part of the convention - and in SoCal many conventions are also held at the large hotels - so you'll have to really check around. Try asking the hotel clerks if they know what is going on - they can tell you if a group has blocked out rooms.

Spring Break time... you'd be better off going in Feb price wise and crowds but march will have extended hours and more things open :confused3

Duh - if DL has extended hours and it is March/April they expect high crowds and spring breaks are spread out in March and April

Strange -- I just booked for President's weekend and had no trouble at all. I used DVC points, so I can't comment on price, but was a little surprised that there was availability on the long weekend.

I am publicly apologizing for my lack of explination with the term "duh" in my previous post. I was not saying "duh" to/about disneegrl4eva and I apologize to her because I was not clear in my post - and it could have been (and was) missunderstood. I was saying "duh" to me - as I didn't realize it was spring break when I posted the convention web page. When I read her post - I went "duh" - I should have realize that (but didn't type the "I should have realized that"). I will try to be more clear in the future. I apologize disneegrl4eva.

late february is Mardi Gras and President's week combined. (Sunday February 25 is the last weekend of both). Can't say what's going on the first week of March, other than I know some people like to skip President's week, and go after that.

When are spring breaks in SO CA for the school kids?
Out here in the east they are not until late March and Early April with Easter being in April this year.

Depending on who you are booking thru, rooms might not be released yet. If you are booking thru expedia/ hotels.com/ travelocity of something like that, they might not have a block to sell yet. Sometimes they dont get them until closer to time, especially the disney hotels. YOu might try booking direct with the hotel, thru getawaytoday, disneytravel, AAA, etc. They will often have rooms before the discount web sellers.

The candy cane still has rooms in early March. They are the same $100-150 a night that they typically offfer.

We're in AZ and our spring break falls at a different time then the previous poster - week of March 24.

We're in AZ too and our Spring Break is March 19-23. We'll be there the 18-22 and staying at GCH.

I know that the first weekend in March there is a huge cheerleading thing going on, which is why we are going in Feb!
