What is essential to purchase with a Kindle Fire?

Hello,
I have been saving up to buy a Kindle Fire HD 7". Other than the purchase for $199, what else do I need to purchase like covers, screen protectors, chargers? And is Amazon the best place to buy it all together? Thank you for your help! I have never had an e reader or tablet before.

A cover, and a charger. If you are buying from Amazon there is a box to the right of the screen listing accessories one of those will be the charger listed for $19.99, if you buy it at the same time as the Kindle you can get it for $9.99. At least that is the way it has been. A cord comes with the Kindle and you could use that to charge it from your pc but it is slow. The charger you buy is a fast charger. We have a Finiti cover bought it from Amazon for around $15 and love it. i don't feel the need for screen protectors unless you will have a little kid playing with it.

You can also buy chargers from a store but I like the one from Amazon as the prongs fold in while not using making it easier to take with you if traveling.

Does the HD not come with a charger? My regular KF came with a wall charger - which happens to be the same charger my phone and DH's phone use.

For my KF I got a couple of covers to see which style I like best. I tried a sleeve (envelope) and one that covers the KF and looks like a book (I think they are called standby?). I returned the sleeve one

I agree that the screen protector is not necessary, I did get a eyeglass cleaning cloth that I keep with my KF. Those are the only accessories I got for it.

Absolutely agree with the wall charger. The one I bought came with the USB charger but I had to buy the wall attachment separately, $9.99 with the purchase of the KF as the PP said.

My KF came with a charger too but I did buy a cover that is the kind that opens like a book. I have no other accessories for it and need nothing else.

Buy the wall charger Amazon will offer you for $9.99. Get a cover but not the one Amazon will offer you for $40 or so. I got a Flintie that came with a screen protector for less than $15 including shipping.

I don't know if you NEED a screen protector, but I like having it to keep fingerprints off the screen. I use my Fire on the internet almost every day.

I agree with the others.. A wall charger is a must. Both the new generation kindle fire and hd do not come with one. Very annoying since we have 4 kindles in the house. None of us use a screen protector. You also don't need a $$ case.

A stylus! If you're a regular typer it can be a life saver.

And I prefer the sleeve style cover.

My Kindle uses the same little itsy plug that my Droid and my Blackberry use. No need to buy extras for $10. I can buy extras for about $5 on Ebay, or buy a fast Kindle charger for $15.

I do agree with all the PP's about the necessity of a good cover though. Take your time and look at them and pick one you like for cheap before you buy.
