AMY5000 just be careful in selecting your resale contract. It may be "stripped" of the 2006 points and so you'd basically have to wait until the 2007 points are awarded. Even worse, the previous owner may have borrowed 07 points which then means you have to wait even longer for a complete set of points.

Yup... you just described the contract I bid on. It has a Feb use year and no pts until Feb 1, 08. While I think this does make the contract much less valuable, it was the right size for me (100 pts) at Saratoga. (I know that Saratoga is big so that will neg. impact resale...but I figured at least it has a longer lease). I really wouldn't have minded something in the 50 to 80 pt range, but this is the one on which I decided to bid. I just hope I make it through ROFR.

Anyway, I don't plan to go until '08.

I paid in full for my first two contracts with a credit card and then paid the credit card off before any finance charges happened. The third contract I am still floating from one cc to another and may end up using my home equity line of credit if the 0% offers stop coming. I don't think they care how they get the money as long as they get it. I just don't know how many banks will finance that type of purchase. I guess if you took it out as a personal loan or something it would work. I just put down the money for the downpayment and then paid the balance a short time later. Hopefully someone with banking knowledge will chime in and advise if it is possible to finance a timeshare through a bank. You definitely don't have to finance through them but you do need to find some source for the money to send them the check.

??? about bouncing around the balance on 0% card offers? How often do you do that? I have always heard that every time you get a cc offer and use it that your credit is looked at and that lowers you credit score. So we bought a new van in Dec. so that was a look and if we were to get one of the zillion offers that come in..that is another hit. Then of course when we bought DVC in Jan. that was another hit. Just curious. Thanks
