What is Disney's best offer currently?

Wife and I are waiting on ROFR. If the deal falls through, we were wondering what is the best DVC offer from Disney currently? We would be looking for the minimum 160 points up to 200 points at SSR.

Anyone familiar with the current Disney offer?

Also, would Disney let me finance through my own bank and just send them a check for the full amount or do I have to finance through them?

I paid in full for my first two contracts with a credit card and then paid the credit card off before any finance charges happened. The third contract I am still floating from one cc to another and may end up using my home equity line of credit if the 0% offers stop coming. I don't think they care how they get the money as long as they get it. I just don't know how many banks will finance that type of purchase. I guess if you took it out as a personal loan or something it would work. I just put down the money for the downpayment and then paid the balance a short time later. Hopefully someone with banking knowledge will chime in and advise if it is possible to finance a timeshare through a bank. You definitely don't have to finance through them but you do need to find some source for the money to send them the check.

Well I have pre-arranged my finance. But how much per point is the deal now for SSR?

For new purchases (minimum purchase of 160 pts.)

AKV = $104 - $8 incentive = $96
SSR = $104 - $10 incentive = $94

OKW, HH and VB = $92
BWV = $98
VWL = $98
BCV = $101

These do have some closing costs too - I think in the $200 range.

There are also some lower prices still available to existing members for add-ons apparently good until early June.

I'd see if your guide can get the closing costs waived if you go thru Disney. Mine has made that offer, tho it is not always available

You know, that old adage is true - you really do get what you pay for.

I don't know, Coach. You are asking Rink a question, and who knows how he might answer it. Sometimes I think Rink is on another planet, if you know what I mean... nod, nod, wink, wink! After all, constantly banging that cowbell with a drumstick has probably affected him somehow.

To quote a great philosopher/drummer: the above comments "may include liberal amounts of wit and irony."

The best Disney offer, IMO, is to get a good DING airfare, and fly to DL for a day and buy there. If you tour and buy at DL, you will receive 2 AP's for either DL or WDW---your choice. Value of the APs is about $700. Let me know if you want my DL guide's name---she is AWESOME.

I've posted this before, and to my knowledge nobody has taken advantage of it. Maybe it'll work for you? :confused3 Good luck and congrats on your impending purchase!

Thanks for the info Patti. But why would I want to buy DVC at DL when I live here in Louisiana and driving is a good possibility for me?

Coach- you would buy a Disneyworld Resort DVC at a sales center in DisneyLand- you get 2 free APs if you make your purchase at the DL location.

OIC so buy for WDW at DL. Ok.. that sounds ok, but I believe the airfare would nullify any savings that I would have on the AP :sad2:

Maybe...maybe not. Check on a DING fare just for you (this isn't a family vacation, just a purchasing trip!). Doesn't matter if you buy DVC in Fl, Cali or on DCL...it's all the same DVC.

Good luck!

My family is also considering joining DVC. Our guide is offering the $10 incentive plus something about rollover points from last year. We are not really convinced that this will save us any money. Can you guys let me know why you think it is worth it.:confused3

There's definately some math to do. I think the prices with the $10 incentive are pretty good considering they come with '07 and in some cases '06 pts. (My price was a good $10 ppt less than the incentive - of course - I haven't passed ROFR). But I don't get points until '08.

candeeapril: There seems to be alot of confusion as whether getting 2006 points is a special deal. Everyone - buying through Disney -would get all of the points for the current use year (ie: If you have a Sept use year you would get all 2006 points and then you would get a new lot of points in Sept 2007) You would only pay Maint. Fees on your 2006 points for a partial year- from the time you purchase to the end of the year.

If your use year has not occured yet in 2007 (April-Dec) and you are getting 2006 points- that is not a special deal- that is just standard practice.

I would consider it a special deal if you had a March (or earlier) use year and they gave you all of your 2006 points- then you would get a whole year of points with no MFs and basically an extra "free" year of points.

Hope this helps- I think it sounds pretty confusing but I hope you know what I mean

One more thing I wanted to add...we decided to go to the resale market b/c we didn't want to buy a minimum of 160 pts (the current minimum that DVC will sell to new members). We wanted fewer pts so we could start small and if we ever decide to resell, smaller contracts seem to sell faster.

AMY5000 just be careful in selecting your resale contract. It may be "stripped" of the 2006 points and so you'd basically have to wait until the 2007 points are awarded. Even worse, the previous owner may have borrowed 07 points which then means you have to wait even longer for a complete set of points. I was able to recently snag a 150 point resale contract that had all of the 06 points and a Dec UY so another 150 points will be available to use in 2008 on top of the ones I need to use this year or bank. Granted the window to bank is rapidly closing so I'll need to make a decision quick on what to do with the 06 points.
