Hi all,

My mother passed away a few months ago, and we are now dealing with the timeshares. My sister says she will sell her share to me for what disney is paying in rofr. I have looed at the threads cocerning this, and it is very overwhelming to me right now, so I thought I'd ask some experts. We have a 300 point bwv contract, and a 150 at vwl and 150 at akv. So, what's disney paying these days?

First, I am sorry for your loss.

If you tried to sell back to Disney, and they actually bought it back from you, I have heard speculation that it is somewhere in the 50's.

However, if you are wondering what the resale market is bearing and when Disney steps in for ROFR, then its all over the place.

For the longest time, they weren't taking much back at all--it seems lately, they are--OKW seems to be at the top of the list. Some of those others, haven't been ROFR'd in awhile so not sure how you could define based on Disney terms.

I know that last year, I was able to buy BWV for $55/pt and Disney let it go for that. I have seen some AKV's and VWL get by Disney in the 60's so I think its hard to put a number on it.

Ok, this doesn't really address your question, so feel free to ignore this unsolicited advice. Since you have 600 points, you may want to consider selling the 300 pt contract and giving that money to your sister. Then you keep the two 150-pt ones for yourself and put out no money (or vice-versa if you want to keep bwv).

Now for your question: If you were going to buy those, you'd pay closer to $70 pp with the closing costs and dues reimbursement. But if you're selling them, you get more like $40 pp after paying the realtor. So $50 seems like a good compromise if you're going to exchange money.

If you are not in a hurry to sell, I think both the VWL and BWV contracts would sell pretty well (although the size of the BWV contract does hamper you a bit). I would get in touch with one of the main brokers and see what they say.

More importantly, I am sorry for your loss and hope that you were able to enjoy many trips to Disney with your Mom.

Thank you for the quick replies. We have enjoyed many many wonderful trips with my mom, and she always said this was her legacy to us. I am "buying" them from my sister because she isnt financially capable of keeping them. My family consists of seven, and I would love to cotinue the disney traditon wth them. I thank you for the informatin as this helps tremendously with our decision.
