I just found out that I will (purely by accident) be at WDW during the end of Discon (we will be there Dec 5/6 - Dec 19/20). Now I am curious, what is DisCon? Any details, will be appreciated.
Most simply put it's the DIS boards convention. We had the first one ever last year, at around the same time. In order to participate in the official events, you have to preregister and pay the required fee a head of time. It started with an opening reception. Then we had scheduled, private events thrughout the 5 days. We had a private dessert party at Fantasmic. We had a 2 hour private Tower of Terror party. We had a special viewing area for Illuminations. We had a special dinner at a country of our choosing, in EPCOT. We had two breakfasts included in the event, one being a character breakfast with a character picture as part of the package. We had a karoake night, and two nights a lot of us met up at Jellyrolls. We all met one evening at the Adventurer's Club, too. It was an event to remember.
There were tons of mini-meets scheduled throughout the event, too. Most were open to all, even if you weren't a part of the official events. Some people, like yourselves, weren't available for the whole convention. They just joined the minimeets as they could. It worked out fine.
Just look for a post from RaySharpton or PatinMN. They have links in their posts to information from last year and a little for this year. We don't have official notification yet. We're all patiently (?) waiting to hear the announcement.
