What is "DING"?

I feel so 'out of it' because I've been without internet service for almost two years.

What is DING which I keep reading about? It sounds like a way for me to save money.

It's a program you download from Southwest Airlines. When it "dings" on your computer, you go to the program to see what discounts they are offering. They are only available for a short time.
