What is considered Spring Break?

I know that sounds like a stupid question, but when people on the Dis are talking about spring break-what week are they referring to? Is it multiple weeks? In the northeast, we would consider it the week before or after Easter. It is different in other parts of the country. Our school is off April 15 so the kids would miss one day less of school. Is that considered a spring break week?:confused3

Ours is April 1st through 5th I think it is safe to say the last half or March through end of April Each state and county can have different weeks for Spring Break. Even the colleges are different around Atlanta etc. We are in North GA 1 hour north of Atlanta

I would consider Spring Break season to be the 6 weeks or so starting mid March and going through late April. Our school system always has Good Friday through the week after Easter off.

Our's is March 23 through March 30th. (Colorado). We are headed to the World that week as well! :yay::yay::yay::yay:

One of the ways I look at it is when the black out dates for Florida residents ap's are, this year it'll be March 23 - April 5, 2013. Our Spring Break (we're about an hour away) is the week before that, so not around Easter this year. Some years it is, some years it's not ...

While we don't have seasonal passes, and we could go the weeks it's blacked out ... that's usually a pretty busy time and we don't bother.

(You just made me look up both my Spring Breaks and my daughters, and luckily we're on the same week this year. :yay: It was "so much fun" to manage that last year when she went on SB the week after I was. Thanks!)

Due to the fact that March Break is different for so many schools, Disney's prices carry a peak price tag for about 5 weeks, so when Disers refer to going during Disney's Spring Break I am assuming their dates sit somewhere in March/beginning of April.

2013
Peak Season prices - February 18-23 (President's Day is Feb 18th)
Regular Season prices - February 24th - March 7th
Peak Seasons prices - March 8th - March 23rd
Easter Seasons prices - March 24th - April 6th
Regular Seasons prices - rest of April and into May

You could say that Disney will consider March break to be March 8th - April 6th as the combination of Easter and March break create a new bracket of prices that are through the roof
I.e. Standard room at a value resort (Movies) during this spring peak season is $135 per night during the weekday and $165 per night on weekends. Same room during the Easter Season is $170 (weekday or weekend)!

Traditionally mid march to mid april is PACKED. :scared: That is "spring break." If you can push your trip off a week or two, late April is usually a ghost town. :thumbsup2

As others have said, it's basically the four weeks up through Easter week.

Our children's district only lets the students off Thursday, Friday, and Monday around Easter. No real "spring break" for us.

Same here and maybe not even Monday. And whats with this Fall Break everyone talks about. :confused3

I would consider Spring Break to basically be the high season for the resort prices. For example, for DVC, there is a 4 week span that is the most points in the March - April time frame. Here in Florida, the kids in Brevard County have spring break around the last week of March,

I worked at WDW back in 1999-2000. Spring break lasted March - end of April.

For WDW it starts the last week of February and goes through April, usually the week after Easter. This is a very busy period for them.

I believe u are talking about Jersey week.

Thjs is usually the 1st week in November. It coincides with election day which is a Tuesday then Thursday n Friday of that same week the Nj teachers have their conventions. School is usually only opened Mon and Wednesday.

Parents usually pull them out for two days and end up going the Saturday or so before.

We did this our last 2 trips and the crowd level and weather were both perfect. Plus u get the last week of F & W festival and Christmas decorations are up.

Oh and I almost forgot.... Osborne's festival of lights....Best thing EVER.

Some schools have a fall break, usually in October.
When our kids were in a year-round school, they got a week off in October.
It would have been a fantastic time to go to WDW, except for the fact that only the elementary school was on the year-round schedule, while our middle schooler had a traditional schedule and no fall break.

Others have already said it, but "spring break" season is usually mid March through late April. Because there are schools around the country that have a spring break during every one of those weeks.

In my experience, university spring break is the first or second full week of March. K-12 spring break was the week before or after Easter. Fall break at the university level is typically sometime in October but isn't a full week; I've seen Mon-Wed and Thurs-Fri at different schools.

In MA, vacation is President's day week in February and then again the 3rd week in April. NH always had the week following MA.

It will be different for different school systems. There's usually a poll with all of the weeks so people can vote for their school's week and you can see the distribution. Unsurprisingly, the concentration is around Easter, but all weeks in March and April are someone's week off (as evidenced by the high prices compared to May).
