What is business casual?

To put it simply...no jeans or shorts, and a clean shirt with a collar.

I would add - no athletic shoes or flip flops or sandals and that's pretty much it.

For men- the kahki type pants and nice shirt - no t-shirt. Casual loafer shoes.

For women - casual pants and top...

No shorts, no jeans....

Also, and this is very important, no tie!

Before I retired we had "casual Friday" and "casual summer" (Memorial Day to Labor Day).

I'm a girl. My current position is jeans & t-shirts 5 days a week.

So would light tan slacks with a pink pin stripe and a grey sweater (summer sweater) be appropriate and black pumps (or should I wear dressy sandles?) be appropriate?

Shoes can be tricky, it depends on the type of job if open toe shoes are ok or not. I can wear them all I want at the office but some companies have a no open shoe policy.
