My kids are out of school May18th - july 31st, the first week in october and two weeks in december. Would october be just too darn hot? or would summer be just too darn crowded? and would week before christmas be too cold and crowded? We have always gone to when school was in session, but this year my two oldest are going to be in 7th and 9th grade, and it just is getting too hard. I am leaning to the October break so that we can still do outdoor activities. I know it has gotten more crowded during this time in years past, so would late May be ok? Disney had the 27th - June 1st as a slow week. Would you agree? Thanks for any advice!!

I have tent camped there every December for the past 5 years and have had a wonderful time every year.

I will be trying Ft. Wilderness in October this year.

I have been to WDW in October several times (just not at the campground) and really enjoy that time of year.

I have also been in late May right after school let out and enjoyed that time too, but probably not for tent camping as it is HOT!!

The summer would be out for me at Disney period.

It all depends on what you want. Do you want to see the Christmas Decorations, or the Food & Wine Festival. Do you want Mickey's Very Merry Party or Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.

Do your children have things going on during Christmas Break that make that a hectic time of year??

Will the new high school student be in band or football, or baseball (or any other fall sport). (which rules out going out of town for the fall break, as many high schools at least here, football goes on and baseball has the fall baseball warmup camp that week). (High school coaches are NOT AT ALL forgiving that you have paid in advance vacation reservations).

If I were you I would go in October. Matter of fact, we're going in October. :)

Happy Camping!

Of the dates you gave, October definitely. Best combination of weather and crowds. We went in October three trips ago and enjoyed it. :)

We popped up up last May and that would be okay too. Nights are still pleasant and generally not too hot and stuffy yet.

December may be cool but you get to see the Christmas decorations. Crowds show up starting the weekend before Christmas and they are crushing.
