what is best day to hold a yard sale>

Around here it’s Thursday & Friday or Thursday - Saturday.

When I did my garage sales it was always Thursday - Saturday.
Thursday and Fridays - normal price
Saturday was 50% off - I told people this after they paid.

Nothing went back in the house, so Saturday was only in the morning so anything left could go to the thrift store before they closed 🙂👍🏻
One company runs most of the Estate Sales around here. Their sales are full price on Friday and Saturday, half price on Sunday.

I would do Saturday and Sunday so people of all religions would be able to come.

That's a tough one. I'd have to say April 25th. Because it's not too hot, not too cold, all you need is a light jacket.

Sorry....I couldn't resist quoting from Miss Congeniality! Saturdays around here!

If it were me I'd put it on Friday and Saturday leaving Sunday only for a rain day or a day where you heavily discount things if you still had enough leftover to make a sale realistic. If you have a large amount of stuff maybe consider adding in Thursday but only for a few hours in the latter half of the day to get a head start on maybe some things.

Around us it is Thursday to Saturday. I normally participate in the City Wide Sales in Early May but the past few years we have either had college Graduations or we were on vacation. (People drive from hours away and bring trucks/trailers to fill up and some stay in a hotel overnight for this sale) Planning on having my own sale later this summer. Normally have about 6 families or more bring stuff over so the garage is full. We advertise on Facebook Marketplace - and put up signs.

Everything left is donated. The past few years - we have put everything FREE the last half of the day on Saturday. We give the people that stop by grocery bags and tell them to fill em up. Leaves us a lot less to bring to Goodwill and most of the people are so excited to get a bunch of free things.

I think it's normally Saturday and Sunday here. Just walked past one when walking the dogs this Sunday.

Our town doesn't seem to have very many yard sales, but they do tend to be on Saturday's. What our town finds to be more effective is by coordinating a city wide sale once in the fall and once in the spring.

First Saturday of the month. Reasoning:
- Saturday is when people expect them /look for them. Other days are just a waste of your time.
- First Saturday because whether you're paid first /last of the month ... or every Friday ... or bi-weekly, everyone has money on the first of the month.
- Get out early. People start looking for yard sales around 7:00 am. No point in staying out past noon ... customers will disappear, assuming (probably correctly) the good stuff was taken early.
- Price things to move. You're not going to make real money from your old socks and Tupperware.
- If you have things of real value, put them on ebay or Craigslist to increase your potential customers and profit. But selling online, packaging and mailing (or meeting a customer) is a whole lot more work than just hauling things out to your yard.

Only ever Saturday/Sunday here.
No use having them during the week when people are working.

We must do pretty well here. Tons of neighborhood sales mostly every weekend with some really great finds. We've had a couple garage sales in recent years and made a little over $500 on one and $700 on the other, mostly stuff we were just getting rid of. Either Friday/Saturday or just Saturday. Sundays are rest days before going back to work...trust me - you'll need it after all that work.
