Another vote for Straight Talk. I switched from Sprint at $89 a month to ST for $45 a month (with taxes in our state it comes to roughly $51/month) but its unlimited everything. They have several phones to choose from, even a Blackberry type phone.
They use Verizon towers so reception is great. As far as their customer service goes.....I have had a long wait once and a totally clueless rep but the few other times Ive even had to call its been just fine. No diff than you would run into with any other customer service person.
WELL worth the savings over a regular carrier to me.

. We barely get reception in our house anymore. We had originally planned on cancelling our home phone when we got these phones, but we're keeping it for now until we can get a solution to the dead-zone problem worked out. The good news: the phones work GREAT everywhere but my house! DH even called me from the elevator at his work in the Texas Med Center (a notorious dead zone-- he used to lose me ALL the time there when we had AT&T) with full bars! For now, we're pseudo happy-- I would have been ecstatic if we would have been able to cancel our home phone. BTW-- On their "coverage map" my house is in a "good coverage" area-- not the best, but not "fair" or uncovered, so their map isn't always right. I would suggest finding someone with Sprint or Virgin and taking their phone to your house before you sign up. --Katie
That didn't even include phone insurance. I only wanted to switch because I wanted an IPHONE, but its not even worth it. My sprint bill is way less than that, and I always have service.
