I love these baby name threads. I have so many names I have loved over the years, but alas we are stopping at 2 kids:

Lorelei Anna, nickname Rory (yes, like the Gilmore Girls)
(Laura lie not Laura lee)

Katia Candace, nick name Kit Kat
(kah tee ah with the first syllable stressed)

Anna was one of my grandmother's names, Candace was my mom's...both are deceased.

Our boy name was Karsten Jonas

I like different names or foreign sounding names, but not "made up" names.
I know both will be plagued with a lot of mispronunciations. Oh well. My name ia a little different too and I still like it.

Miles Joseph (Miles because we liked it and Joseph after DH and FIL)
We actually officially decided on this name about a week before we got the call from the adoption agency that they had a baby for us. If he'd been a girl the name would have been Lilyanna Grace.

Pooh-bear, That would have been my name if I would have been a boy. Miles Joseph after my dad. NOT My name is Laura Beth, I go by Beth. I would suggest not having your child go by the middle name. Much confusion over the years. Especially when I was young. I didnt know that I went by my middle name and teachers would call Laura and I would think they had forgotten me. Now the problem is- All legal documents are in my first name and I have to make sure that I sign things with the right name. As for my kids-

Zachary Thomas- My husband got to name the first since I didnt want a Jr. (Randal Lee) he said we could call him Lee but I wouldnt go for that.

Katherine Louise ( Katie, Katie Lou, Lou lou) both names are family

Mason Andrew- Named after the County that my husband hunted in. Since he wouldnt be able to be at the deerlease after thanksgiving we named him Mason. When I found out I was pregnant I asked my husband if he would be going hunting after Thanksgiving and when he said yes I then told him he probably be at the hospital instead. Mason came 3 days before Turkey day. This year we are spending the big 7yr. birthday with the Mouse.

Paul James, Zackary Stevens and Jamison Patrick. Ex was a 3rd and didn't want a fourth so we just mixed it up a little.

My dh has 4 daughters. All of them have middle names that are family oriented on their mom's side. I don't know many of her family so I am not sure who exactly they are named after but they are April, Angela, Amanda and Allison.

I wanted to let you know about a really fun website for baby names, it is:

It not only tells you what rank your name is but also how many babies per million are given that name in any given year. For example, Jennifer, the number one girl name in the 70's was used for about every 16,500 girls out of a million, and Emma the number one girls name of the 2000's is only used for about 6500 out a million. It's really cool to see the trends of any given name. Also how girls names have really changed while boys names seem to stay the same. Probally because many more boys are named after thier fathers. There is also a book but the same person, I got it for my SIL when she pregrant with her second and I think I was more interested in it than she was.

I have a Lauren Elizabeth and a Lindsey Nicole. However, I really wanted to name Lindsey ...........Emily, but my grandfather told me in no uncertain terms I couldnt name her Emily because it was old fashioned. He died 3 weeks after she was born.
