Just bought SSR and we are waiting for FROR from Disney! I'm reading a lot about being on a wait list for reservations, but don't understand why. Are reservations hard to come by as a DVC member? Or is it some type of booking strategy? Can someone please explain this to me?

1) When the resort and dates you want are booked, there is a wait list.
2) If your name and dates come up, you get the ressie.
3) If you name does not come up, you don't get a ressie.
4) Based upon resort and dates, ressies can be almost impossible to get.

It is referring to resort booking reservations, not dining reservations. If you are trying to book a resort other than your home resort (in your case, SSR) at the 7 month window, if there's no availability, you can put yourself on the wait list hoping for a cancellation.

This question could be best answered on the DVC boards. :)

If you wait too late to make the reservation you want at your home resort, you can waitlist your home resort before 7 months out. If you wait too late or are unable to get a different resort at 7 months out, you can waitlist that resort.

And there are some size villas, some locations that are nearly impossible to get any less than 11 months out. And busy times at WDW are not always the busy times with DVC.

But waitlists don't always come through.

Ooooh, a two-fer. Two people asked essentially the same question a few minutes apart. I get to use the same answer a second time. ;)

[Edit] lol, not a two-fer. A double post. See my answer in your other thread.
