Hey! As you can see from the thread title, I read in another post that the person's room had a "turret balcony "! I was wondering exactly what this was? Also does anyone have a pic?

Thanks
Mike

We just came back from 12 days at the Dolphin.
Balconies - every other room on each wing floor so you are not on top
of one another.
Style of railling - top rail is flat across - nothing for little hands to be poked by.
The vertical rails are not very far apart - a child could not slip through.
There is a pattern in the railing in the center of the vertical rails. I think it was
a pineapple. Don't hold me to it. I really did not look.

There are 2 chairs and a small table on the balcony.
Beware if you have children who like to climb.

Sorry I do not have a picture.

We did not use the balcony much - but loved the view.
It was either too hot, or too raining to sit outside.

We were in room 8025 - EAST wing.
A bit of a walk from the pool or Tubbies or Dolphin Fountain,
but we did not mind. I have no problem walking though the hotel in
a wet bathing suit with a t-shirt on top and sandels.

You'll be surprised what people wear around the hotel.

enjoy !

The "turret" balconies refer to rooms on the very end of the 4 sections that jut out: http://www.swandolphin.com/intro.html

I believe every other floor also has a standard balcony as described above, in addition to the semi-circular "turret" that is covered and more private.

""""turret" that is covered and more private."""

And much larger than a regular balconey. The door to this balcony is in the entry way of the room, across from the bathroom. We got upgrade to one of these and it was awesome. The room has a large windo on two walls so the room is bright. The balconey though is covered and somewhat enclosed so is somewhat dark. View was wonderful.

I do not believe there are any "Turret" balcony rooms w/two double beds. These were originally designed as executive corner Kings, reserved especially for business travelers. Over the years, these became popular with vacationers, and other patrons began requesting them. They are very roomy and private. The Turret balcony is much larger than the standard balcony. The room will accomodate cots/rollaways, and some have a small sofa. They are truly the hidden/secret treasure of the WDW Dolphin. ;)

Hi All!:)

I'm a little confused. From the excellent information I have read about the room locations and styles of each room, I beleive that corner king rooms are in the 015 series. That is 7015, 9015 ect. is this correct?

So then, what series of rooms are the turret balcony rooms? If Jen had the room with a turret balcony that was 8016, do all the rooms with a 016 come with a turret balcony?

Thanks for getting me out of this muddle of information.

Well, we leave in less than 10 days....I'm just finalizing exactly what we should "ask" for at check-in.

No corner rooms have two beds?

Anyways, what should we say when we check-in if we want a turret room.

We have points...SPG...to use. Do we say "do you have any ......by any chance".

I don't want to seem like out of it asking for the room.

I booked a at the Dolphin through Dreams Unlimited last year at $155 for a standard view room. When I arrived I just layed my Starwoods card down and the young lady took it with my credit card. I didn't ask for anything. She just said they were upgrading me and that is the room I got!!!!
