What is a steamer trunk???

I am in the process of booking our first Disney Cruise and I heard something about rooms with steamer trunks. What is a steamer trunk and is this something that I would want or need???

Basically it's an extra cabinet with shelves to store clothes and such in. You'll definitely need it. My DH kept all of his clothes in it.

Thanks for the info. Yeah it sounds like this is something I want. How do you know if a room has a steamer trunk or not?

Does anyone know how to tell which rooms have the steamer trunks?

According to the stateroom diagrams, it appears that Cats 11 & 12 do not have steamer trunks, but the other categories 5 - 10 do.

an occasional room does not but some of the lower cat ones do. From what I understand the DCL agents have a list so if you pick a room, you can call them and ask them. I know cat 10, 5020, 5520 (SPH) do NOT have the trunks. A room I had, cat 9 did not either (don't remember that room #).

Cat 6 have trunks and so did my cat 4(it was double in size).

I know that Cat 7s have them too.

And the 'sideways' Cat 11's in the front of the ship have them!

We are thinking we might go with a category eight. I am thinking forward starboard on deck 5. Not 100% yet but that is what we are leaning towards. Does anyone know if these have the steamer trunk or how I would be able to know if the rooms have it by looking at the stateroom map.

From the looks of them, I think it would nice to have one, but if I don't I'm not going to be to dissappointed.
