what is a proxy and how does it work

I posted a few weeks ago that I was still doing the rewards programs where you looked and ads and get points to cashout out for either cash or gift cards

a few weeks ago a few of my programs stopped working--I would get a message it took to long to respond and to check proxy and a few other things that I dont have a clue about

anyways a friend of mine turned off wifi on my phone and it awhile but one of the programs came up so I was able to contact the owner and told her what was going on

she said I should use a proxy not sure what this is or anything about it

could someone please explain this to me Id like to get back into these

One simple thing that sometimes works for me in situations like this - try a different browser (if you usually use Chrome, try Firefox or Edge, etc)

thanks for the reply--Ive heard of firefox and edge but not sure how it works

do I just type in firefox in the address line or do I need to download something

Firefox requires downloading something (an app). There may be different procedures but one procedure is to go to http://www.mozilla.com and there will be a button or link to download Firefox from there. When it is done you wll get an icon on your screen to double click to use Firefox.
