What is a pin trading cruise

nrbears,
The November 16th Wonder cruise has an event going on while on board, you had to purchase it, for an additional 35 dollars per person and it includes free pins, seminars, games, and special signings of pins. Also a 24 hr pin trading lounge. And special pins you can only get if you are part of the package.

If you go to the offical site it would tell you more or try the second one also.

I will be there:) Cast and all!

It is very expensive:guilty:. Got sucked into the very 1st one back in May 2002.

Now we just go on normal cruises, we found that we are not like those :crazy2: people:duck:, sorry, but they would have rather lined up at the giftshops then enjoy the deck party, so wrong:hyper:.

We love our pins and enjoy the art of pin trading and all, but not that much, lol:bitelip:

Ok for better information,

It is a normal crusie with the addition of special events, to which, you purchase an event ticket before hand. There are a limited amount so check with disney. There are extra special pins and sometime chances to get free ones. Also they have had Disney artists on board to talk about pins and the designing of them, I think.

There are tonnes of people willing and looking to trade and they generally have pins from all over the world, I got some from DLT and DLP as well as some from special events at WDW. They came with bags, crates and suitcases full of pins.:magnify:

Each cruise has had a theme, Ours was Ever WONDER where the MAGIC came from, or something along that line.

There were several special pins including:

a 250 LE, ship in a bottle pin, we have two of them:blush:
a 750 Artist pin, donald, we have 2 of these and traded 2 away.
Both of the above were given out by ramdon draw.
several at the 1500 - 2500 LE pins
there was also a collection card that has completer pins to purchase. It was the gang working on the ship, very cute.

pj,
I am going and payed for the pin package, but I still plan on enjoying all the "normal" shipboard activities:) I think everyone is different. Sure I am going to enjoy the event also. But since I am traveling with my five year old nephew and also travelling in a cast, I plan on relaxing and enjoying it all.

Nrbears,
In order to trade most people request that there be a disney stamp on the back of the pin. I always have a set of what I call my traders, that I dont mind getting rid of in order to get the pins I want. I would say you can count on 99% of pin traders to require that they be disney pins.

Eek40, I did the very first one and it was not at all organized, but it looks like they have the events on the ship much better planned now.

They forgot to plan any open pin trading stations, traders set up camp all over the ship, it was funny, trading happened until all hours of the morning(no park hours to get in the way, lol).

On ours those who really wanted to get the pins, other than the drawn ones, had to line up early at the shops.

I have nothing against anyone who lines up for pins, did it myself for several weeks in 2000 with the DS collection leading up to Walts brithday.

But the cruise itself is so cool, have lots of fun and trade for great pins. Learn lots and share the knowledge with us on the DIS.
