Do you talk to your provider much during a massage?

I get monthly massages and I really like that protected time of self-care. My regular provider just left the practice :sad1: so now I’m seeing someone different. In my experience, all massage providers are wonderful, warm, caring people. So I would of course like to get to know her better as a person. But I don’t want to spend the entire session chatting. I’m curious how much time you spend in conversation with a provider. And conversely, if you are a provider, do you consider it rude if clients don’t chat with you much during the session?

I don’t speak during my massages, it’s supposed to be relaxing, I don’t want to chitchat. On the other hand my dentist is too talkative and borderline nosy and I can’t really not answer him since he will pause to let me respond. I only see him twice a year and he has so many questions and remembers everything we talked about and wants updates. My hairdresser and I talk a lot, but I notice that sometimes if we talk too much, my haircut isn’t as good. I just need them to focus.
